Fuchs Amps.

Hey all. A couple of nights ago, a friend of mine who works at a local music shop, called me and asked me to come over to the shop and bring one of my guitars.

A friend of his had just gotten a Fuchs ODS 100 head. when I arrived, they were playing it through a Marshall 4x12 and getting killer tones with a Strat and my buddy's EB/MM Albert Lee model. We then plugged in my Hamer Studio and proceeded to play for a while.

I was blown away. :32:

I am now thinking of getting one or something like it. Since Fuchs does provide mods to existing amps, I was thinking of buying an old Silverface Twin and sending the chassis to get modded to Fuchs specs.

That way, I could have an ODS 100 combo.

What do you guys think? :burnout:

Re: Fuchs Amps.

A Fuchs mod is currently #2 on my list of amps to buy (a Peters Dual Channel is #1). Andy's work is most excellent. A factory ODS had the most chimy cleans I've ever heard and that schweet OD to boot.

You might be waiting a while, though. Demand for factory amps has been increasing (I'm sure the favorable GP review didn't hurt) and I believe he's not doing a lot of mod work these days.

Re: Fuchs Amps.

I think you'd be happier if you sold a bunch of stuff, saved a bit, and bought the actual Fuchin amp. he he Even with mods, your Silverface will probably only improve, but still not sound like the Fuchs amp. They are one of the coolest Dumble style amps. I'd love to have one.

Re: Fuchs Amps.

Hard to go wrong with the Fuchs. The Two Rocks sound pretty similar in a lot of ways. Now you know why I love mine so much. a lot of folks get turned off because Fuchs uses circuit board(s), but don't be. They're high quality boards and his tone is pure Dumble.
