Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Mine are both matte, but just slightly different. I can only assume its due to different plastics used for each.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Can you post a picture please as I just want to see how different it is from the regular black. Thanks.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

anyone have these properly setup in a guitar yet? Seems like a tough mount-job

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Were we supposed to request the sandblasting ourselves?
Wasn't it part of the specs?

Well, I have no charge on my card yet so I'm still waiting, patiently, in wild anticipation :D

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Sandblasting is part of the specs, I think it was just the first batch a couple went out that were black rail bobbin and a couple not sandblasted. I've talked to them, that should be corrected.

If you received one that wasn't to the voted spec, you can either keep it as being special or email customshop@seymourduncan.com and send it in to be adjusted appropriately. You won't be charged for the rework.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Scott can you verify what type I have in the picture of the post above. It's not exactly glossy, but looks quite a bit darker than the matte bobbin in your first post. I just want to make sure I don't already have a sandblasted bobbin on mine and that's the best it's gonna get.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Can someone please post a pic of the Fuglies with the sandblasted coil? It's great seeing the boxes and all, but I was hoping even Scott would have chimed in as I'm still waiting on an answer from him... Was willing to order another set if I know exactly what I'm getting. I have 2 Fuglybucker sets right now, and I still don't know if what I have are the regular black bobbins or the sandblasted bobbins. Can anyone help here or what?

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

I think this maybe as good as you're going to get. There is a very definite difference in the surface of the two bobbins, the rail being rather smoother that the other.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Hard to tell since you took a macro close up of it. I saw your earlier picture and that sort of looks like the one I have.

Here's yours:

Here's mine:

This is what the sandblasted coil should have looked like together with the Parallel Axis:

Just wondering if anyone's sandblasted coil looks like this photoshopped pic and the pic of the sandblasted bobbin in Scott Olsen's OP of this thread.

I think a better question is why doesn't the sandblasted bobbin we received look like the sandblasted bobbin in the original post? Was it too time consuming or something? I will keep the ones I have, I'd just like to know.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Mine are definitely textured. Maybe they weren't sandblasted as heavily as the prototype?

That's what I am guessing too, but I'm just curious why the change was made to not keep it as pictured as people were expecting it to look a certain way.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Fusion1,

Yours look too shiney? Correct? Is it that shiney in person? Flash is kinda heavy in your pic, that's why I am asking. Does yours have this texture that the other guys are talking about?

BTW I think I also will be keeping the ones in the mail, whatever they are... Still some side of me is kinda hoping that it looks like the Duncan pic (the last one in your message)... If mine turn out to be shiney, cool... It'll have some additional mojo...

:)

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Dr. Barlo, I'll take a pic or two without flash and just overhead lighting. It's not exactly textured (I would call the PA bobbin textured) but not as shiny or black as the normal Duncan bobbins.

Thanks man, I appreciate it.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

Fusion, I looked over your picture with Derek and he says it looks blasted. If it wasn't blasted it would very glossy. His best guess is that the original picture got a slight sheen of wax which makes it a little less matte finish.

Re: Fugly Bucker - Come and Get it

K thanks Scott, I sort of figured it was sandblasted, since it wasn't overly glossy. Did the ones we all received get less sandblasting than the original prototype of the matte bobbin though?
