Full Shred not loud enough?

Well I've had it in for a week or two now and I've noticed, compared to my Jackson with EMG HZs, it doesn't have nearly as much volume when clean. And I've noticed when I hit the distortion, it seems like it's louder then. But when I switch back to clean, there's a noticable volume drop. Am I going crazy or did I mess up the soldering?

Re: Full Shred not loud enough?

if you add gain it will be louder.

you have to match the levels of the pedal (if you're using one) and the amp or channel volumes, so the volumes are equal, only one is a clean sound and the other is distorted.

Re: Full Shred not loud enough?

Could be that you had the pickups higher before?

Well they're as high as they can possibly go right now but I even lowered the HZ's on my Jackson to match the height and they were still louder than the FS

Yeah I had the pedal level at 12:00 so I thought that it was the same levels

Re: Full Shred not loud enough?

Anyone else with insight? Could this be just a characteristic in that the EMG HZ's will in fact be louder? Or could there be something wrong with my installation.

The eq of the FS makes it sound a bit less present when clean IMO, but voiced perfectly for gain. You're gonna need to tweak your amp quite a bit to find a balance. I usually just switch to the neck pup personally.

Ooh, I'm sorry I forgot to mention, this IS the neck pickup version of the FS lol. But thanks for the advice! That does help me rest easy:sleeping:

Hey Guian lol

dude, like they that guy said, The Full Shred is a pup voiced for hi-gain.

I wouldnt be too surprised if it wasnt too loud clean, then again, you might want to try using both pickups at once (if your bridge pup is too bite-y) clean.

BTW-The Emgs in my LTD KH202? they arent hz4s lol

their those gay EMG-ESP Licensed pups...

the only cool part is that they dont squeal (feedback) when you dont want them to.

Haha what's up bro, thanks for the advice. From what everyone's inputting, it does make a whole lot of sense. I'm such a duncan noob! Oh and how did you figure out they weren't H4s? lol
