Full Shred too bright?

Does the full shred, and other pickups that articulate the lead notes, do it at the expense of being too bright/ shrill?

Its called fitting the product to the market. The guys that want "full shred" want something bright to cut through tons of distortion, which is why they also like actives, ceramic magnets, & Duncan's JB. Manufacturers give them what they want and everybody's happy. Lots of mids with rounded high ends doesn't work well with gobs of distortion.

If you want rich warm tones, steer clear of stuff made for metal heads (duh) & talk to some blues guys. What kind of music are you playing?

The Full Shred I had in my Hamer for a while was bright, but it wasn't a spikey type of bright sound. It was bright, with a full sound.

I wish I could find that pickup. I must have given it away or something.

Mostly I shred,but i'm not into spikey highs and processed tone, I play thru a MKII Marshall 100 with a TS808, so its an old school tone-not super-high gain. thanks. what humbucker would you suggest for a warm rich and smooth tone in bridge of a Superstrat? I already have one Superstrat witha DiMarzio SuperD , which I like, but looking for something diffrent- a Dimarzio PAF perhaps?

I also can't stand spikey highs. I'd love a warm and smooth pickup that's very articulate and clear...

I think it depends on the rig you play through honestly. The full shred set in my Jackson sounds great, warm and ballsy through some amps, thin and brittle in others. Many pickups characterized as warm can sound thin or bright, just depends on the other components.

I have Full Shreds in a couple of mahogany body guitars. They don't sound overly bright or shrill there at all. Just edgy and very crunchy.

Have you even tried the Fullshred?

I have one in my Charvel and I can easily cope a fine clean and bluesy sound. Its warm, ballsy as hell, nasty and it isnt too bright... Nice aggressive midrange and topend to cut through, but never shrill.

It is bright, but not TOO bright. It sounds great for leads but also for drop tuned heavy riffs, because it doesn't turn everything to mud!

I have one in my Charvel and I can easily cope a fine clean and bluesy sound. Its warm, ballsy as hell, nasty and it isnt too bright... Nice aggressive midrange and topend to cut through, but never shrill.

what is your charvel made of? how does it sound acoustically? because i'd be interested in getting a full shred maybe
