Hey i was looking at the specs on the FULL SHRED and came to the conclusion that acccording to its resistance and resonance that its just a Custom Series (C5?) with double row of allen screws. Much like the Allen Holdsworth is just a JB with double row screws.......what do you think? :22:

Re: FULL SHREDb a Custom Series?

The C5 has more bass than the FS. Both nice pickups but clearly different tones. I really like the FS in the neck position. One of my favorites.

My point is if not for the double row of allen screws it would be a Custom Series. I believe the difference in tone is the double row of allen screws.........

Wrong as Jeremy has a C5 with Allen Head pole pieces and claims it sounds nothing like a Full Shred

The common belief and I believe it to be true as well that there is a different gauge and turns in the wire.

If anything I'd say you'll probably find the same gauge wire and a number of turns that is closer to the JB than the Custom

I agree. The number of turns and possibly the wire gauge are most likely different between the FS and customs. To my ears, the FS and C5 sound completly different tonally. Changing the poles will certainly have a tonal effect but not vast difference that I notice between these 2 pups.

Re: FULL SHREDb a Custom Series?

You'll have to send a PM to Jeremy ... I believe he said it added articulation and a tighter bottom end
