hey everyone, i'm getting a new six string guitar soon, 26.2" scale length to be tuned around C and B. i love my Full Shred set on my current main guitar which i tune to D standard, i love the tightness in the low register, the smoothness when i go high on the fretboard, and the clarity throughout. i find the Full Shred set very versatile, though i intend to make my upcoming guitar a little more of a chug machine compared to my current one. so i was thinking of getting a set of Full Shreds but with slight tweaks and wonder if swapping or mixing magnets is the way to go.
for the bridge i was thinking what would a ceramic magnet do instead of the regular A5, or if mixing them would make something nice. what i'm hoping for is a slightly expanded lower end and low mids. a little bit more bite would be welcome as well. not a drastic change overall, just a slight push in the frequencies at both ends of the spectrum, making it sound a little 'bigger' like other metal-oriented pickups, while retaining its core characteristics. in other words, sounding a little more mean without sacrificing its infamous tightness and clarity.
as for the neck, i think it's almost there: it just needs a slightly fuller midrange, it could use a little bit more warmth. it's also slightly weak when split. what would an A2 magnet do in the neck of a Full Shred? or mixed with an A5? what i'm looking for is an ever so slightly 'juicier' sound all around.
should i go custom shop? price isn't really an issue.
thanks for your time guys!
