Fulldrive 2 = Banzai Fireball 2?

Is the Banzai a clone (Sorry Mike)? I kinda liked my buddy's FD2 when he had it, but I really dig Marinblues' clips with his Banzai, and the Banzai website has some nice tones on their pedals.

Has anybody A/B'd them?

I'm looking for a 2 stage drive pedal like these...

The Banzai can be set up to mimic the FD2, but it seems much more versatile.

indyguitarist.com has a mod for the boss sd-1 that makes it sound like a fulldrive

I've had a Fireball, 2 Coldfusions (old & new), and a blue and orange Fulldrive.

If you only need one channel, the Coldfusion sounds the best to my ears.
Then, the Fireball is a much more versatile dual mode pedal, complete with internal dipswitches to tailor the gain. It's a bit more rock/metal than the Fulldrive and is probably my favorite dual mode OD. Worth the $200 !!

I like the FD II, although it has more of that tubescreamer vibe with a mix of gain and clean combined into one signal. Sounds better with single coils, whereas the Fireball is equal between singles and hums. Also, the highgain on the FD II is a little fuzzier and less focused than the Banzai pedals.

Overall, if you need 2 modes, get a Fireball. If you only need one great boost pedal, get a Coldfusion. I haven't tried the New Rising Sun, but it looks pretty cool.

Check out the banzai's. They all cost $200, but look and sound great.
