Raging BB Gunologist
Fulldrive 2 Mosfet arrived today.
I was originally leaning towards an Xotic AC+.... but Shane's pedalboard (a friend on another forum) and mine were starting to look a little too alike a few weeks back so I opted for a FD2-Mosfet.
Great pedal... and I normally hate tubescreamers.
I actually bought it because I wanted something to give me that typical mid boosted tubescreamer lead sound, but with some extra options to dial in the tone I wanted. This pedal defiantly does that. I also like that it doesn't kill my bottom end (particularly good in this reguard in Mosfet mode), so I can click it on for a lead and not totally loose my rhythm tone like I do with my TS-808.
The boost function is kinda nice too. I dial in the FD2 in for pretty low gain (V-4, T-6, G-3 vintage/mosfet) and set the boost for full up. Lets me switch from a less compressed lead tone that'll also do a crunchy rhythm tone with the boost off, to a slightly fatter, more compressed tone with the boost on.
At first I thought I actually liked it more than my OCD.... then I realized that I was comparing it to the OCD in the wrong context. Once I put things back into the right perspective (the FD2 gives me my crunchy mids up rhythm and screaming lead tones, whereas the OCD gives me my heavy mids down rhythm tone) I realized that both pedals are defiantly keepers.
Now my DaMOAF should be here any day now....
