So after years and years of bugging you guys, I got off the pot ...

So its going into the bridge of a Lone Star Strat (HSS), Ash body, maple neck/maple fretboard (no fret board that is )

For now its the stock tremolo bridge but will be replaced either by Gotoh or Fender re-issue of six screws thing

Another thing that is on the way is a Schaller's locking tuners, the Fender ones, non-drills

What I play now is a cross between Thin Lizzy/Motorhead/L.A. Guns/Scorpions

I wanted a mids screaming, on the high output side, raunchy, rock n roll bucker but one that would give tight palm mutes, screaming pick harmonics, with creamy, almost single coilish strat leads, with focused, articulate pick dynamics. Based on what I've read here SH-10 is it.

I also want to rewire the knobs to a universal tone knob and two volume knobs (for single coils)

Now, here are the questions:

Some guys here really believe that Invader can be very different if ran in parallel. Is that the case with Fullshred? Considering what I like tone wise and the HSS set up, will parallel option make a difference ?
And how will the parallel wiring effect the clean up on the volume knob?

I think you will like it. I have mine spin-a-split wired with the non-bridge coil and it has a nice single coil sound.

Spin-a-split is wiring the pickup to the tone control so that at 10 only one coil is working and at 8 or 9 the humbucker is at full force. Check the schematics section for details. ;)

How will that work with two volume controls and universal tone control on HSS strat ?

With a 250k pot, there may be some treble roll off when it is on 7 or 8 which will be when the humbucker is full on. You can listen to the hum and hear when it goes from humbucker to single coil. It shouldn't take too much of the highs off of the single coils, but if they aren't bright enough for you, it might be too much. It's a pretty simple solder job to try and easy to undo. I had one in that orange Charvel I had... Which was quite bright sounding. Worked wonders in that one... Best sound I ever had :) I think you will like it.

Turn the volume back a bit, and it will be no problem for the Lizzy stuff :)

What was Body/Neck wood mix? do you agree with DonP above ?

Farkus used it in that combo and liked it. YMMV. Given the sounds you are talking about, I think it might work. If it's too bright with a 500k pot, I'd give it a try with a 250k, before going for another pickup

As for the parallel wiring ... I didn't mind it. Took me more towards a Jazzmaster sound when I was running a FS in parallel.

So, played a full rehearsal with it yesterday in the bridge ... you do have to step up your "clean" playing in terms of it clean pull-offs, clean picking, clean fretting, muting, etc, it is very precise and very fluid .... Did pretty much what I expected and wanted it to do for my leads, for the rythm I found it a bit lacking girth and a bit bright, perhaps its my amp that needs to be tweaked a bit, after all I played it for the last 3 years mostly with the Invader in the bridge ... perhpas its 250k pot switch that will do it

Seems you and me are after the same thing... Chunk with more openess and all. It's not easy breaking away from high output stuff!

I love the Invader in parallel. To answer the rest of your question . . . hook it up and try it. That's how you know. ;)

I would think going from and Invader to a Full Shred would call for a tone control change on your amp. Much more highs and less mids and bass. :)

YES ! First rehearsal was not so great, but the second one was waaay better. Bass is up to 4, but boosted on the push/pull boost, mids are about 5, and highs are boosted at about 5 1/2. Before midds/highs were 6 and 9. Now precision, tightness and brightness are beginning to come through without much ice pick. Now the trick is too how to get my tex-specials not to sound so bassy when I go the neck or phased .....

Wow, forgot about this one.

Yes, I think the Full Shred might be too bright for the guitar you described. Sounds like you are finding that out first hand...finally LOL!

In my guitar, it pulls off a great Schenker / UFO tone.
