Fulltone Clyde Wah Pedal VS. Budda Bud-Wah

Hey guys.
I'm on the edge of buying a wah pedal. Not sure what though, i've read reviews on the budda and they seem awesome, but similiary with the fulltone. i know theres a bit of a difference in price, but is it worth the difference? I don't mind saving up an extra week to get the fulltone. Would it be wise to just buy direct off the net without trying? cause there is no way i will be able to try out a fulltone or a budda wah in this hole of a place called perth.

So yeh, fulltone or budda?

Re: Fulltone Clyde Wah Pedal VS. Budda Bud-Wah

I played the Budda Wah for about 5 years, then sold it and bought a Fulltone Clyde Deluxe. They're both true bypass, which means they don't shave the high end off when not in use, unlike many Dunlops and Vox wahs.

I'll tell ya the truth.....the Budda Wah is a great wah pedal, and I can't say a bad thing about it. It served me well, and I'd buy it again. However, the Fulltone is utter perfection when it comes to wah's. It'll cost more for a Clyde, and it's apples and oranges. They're both good. If you want to end your search completely, pay the extra dough for the Clyde Deluxe. I bought a deluxe, and it's simply the best wah pedal ever made. It's got a volume control and 3 frequency ranges. 'Shaft' is the high frequency range, and it's good for clean James Brown funk. The Jimi setting is pure Vox Jimi Hendrix range, and is the same setting as the normal Clyde wah. The Whacked setting has a lower frequency and is best for highgain, and sounds great on the lower notes. I tend to use the Jimi and Whacked settings the most.
The Clyde Deluxe is around $260, but at least you're finished looking at wah's the day you buy one.

Another vote for the Fulltone Wahs....Doesn't have to be the expensive deluxe model either!

The deluxe has 3 different wah tones....Myself,I only cared for the "Jimi" setting....If you use all 3 or even 2 of those tones,it'd be worth it I guess?

The Deluxe also has a volume control on the side..Not sure if the STD does or not,but it's an easy thing to add later...

Re: Fulltone Clyde Wah Pedal VS. Budda Bud-Wah

well what is the differences betweent he three settings, besides the name?
e.g. more in treble, more bass, crunchier?

sorry im being annoying, i just dont have the choice of being able to test it out here.

Re: Fulltone Clyde Wah Pedal VS. Budda Bud-Wah

I have a Crybaby Classic and absolutely love it even though it isnt the best wah. I played the Budda one and Fulltone Clyde Deluxe though (along with the 2 Voxs and just about all the other crybabies) and I can say that the Fulltone is the best one. The whacked setting is absolutely awesome because it doesnt have that harsh high end and just beefs up the bottom end. The Jimi setting is what a Vox should be like (the Voxs to me sounded were not meaty enough and didnt do clean well). Shaft is good for the funk as mentioned before. The Fulltone had a pretty good sweep too. The Budda one has a narrow (short or whatever) sweep, but it has the next best tone after the Fulltone out of the ones I played. The Budda was designed to shave off the ultra top end so it doesnt crap out (and get too trebly) when through a overdriven boutique lower gain amp. High gain amps tend to really cover up the harshness of the wah pedal, and it sounds good, until you put that pedal infront of Tweed Fender or vintage Gibson amp.

Another choice is getting a modded one. I am considering sending my Crybaby Classic to Roberk Keeley because he has some interesting mods. One is a dual fasal inductor mod, a yellow one for vintage fuzzy stuff and a red one for modern happy headroom stuff and you can switch between them via a little toggle switch. Another is of course true bypass (which the classic doesnt have) and another is a volume knob on the side of the pedal. I love my Crybaby Classic a lot and use it a lot, and dont plan on selling it anytime soon, but I still might get a Fulltone wah myself when the time comes.

Right on the money.

The Fulltone Clyde is the one to get...you'll never look back.

I'd not go for the Clyde Deluxe...it has two more wah tones ("Shaft" and Wacked") but I never use anything except the "Jimi" setting. The standard Clyde has only the "jimi" setting and that's all you need.

Don't spend all that money on the Keeley wah! :smack:

Just listen to us that know what we're talking about and get the Fulltone wah....Life is short so go for the Fulltone Deluxe for like $260....Yikes! :smack: :laugh2:

Re: Fulltone Clyde Wah Pedal VS. Budda Bud-Wah

is 260 cheap?
i don't really have any other choice, pedals over here in Perth are honestly overpriced. not just pedals, everything is. :(

It's way too expensive and that's why I Mod my own wahs! :laugh2:

Cool wah,but not worth $260...I'm kinda on an anti Fulltone mode right now also...They've gone and pissed me off once again! :yell:

I'm thinking about getting rid of the 1 and only Fulltone product I own also!

Re: Fulltone Clyde Wah Pedal VS. Budda Bud-Wah

Yeah, the Fulltone Clyde is pretty sick. The Deluxe is worth the $$ if you want to be a little more radical with your wah expression. It's a small price to pay for a much more versatile wah. But if you're still stuck on that old, identifiable "Hendrix" tone, surely, the Standard will be fine.

But you want options! Be experimental!
