Fulltone Deja Vibes

I'm beginning to tire of flangers and choruses, and the exotic sounds that Fulltone Deja Vibes produce intrigues me...

Anyone have one? Experience with it? Any cool tricks you can do with it or sound clips?

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

It is THE only product the Fuller makes that I really really like, fat Hendrix swirls, awesome bottomend and great cut.
Hit it if you have one on your hands, they are great units, both the small and the big version.
Very very great stuff for sure.

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

My absolute favorite pedal of all time!!! How's that for an endorsment!! Do a search on the forum and you'll find nothing but rave reviews. I have an older one which is about twice the size of the new mini ones but both sound fantastic. Very earthy.

Here's a link to a song my band just finished and the intro and verse guitar is me playing the Dejavibe with a touch of delay using my Jazzmaster through my Dual Rectifier... I love the tone!

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

Is there any advantage to getting the stereo version?

I'm also looking at the Deja Vibe 2... is the speed controlled by the wah-style rocker pedal?

Yes the speed is controlled by the rocker pedal... just like the original Univibes were. The purists will choose this one first. As far as stereo goes, if my rig were setup for stereo then I would absolutely get it in stereo even though it's more money. Think about that swirly-a$$ tone flying around the room/club... very trippy indeed :32:

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

See I dont have a stereo rig, and if I DID do any splitting that would most likely be the delay pedal's work. But as for now I'm gonna look into the smaller, mono units. Thanks guys!

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

I've had the Mini Deja Vibe for a couple of years now for Trower and Hendrix tunes we do and it's great...Best UNIVIBE type of pedal I've tryed..

The Boss DD-6 has stereo ins/outs.....the best of both worlds can be yours. ;)

Unless you want an analog delay, then just ignore what I said.

I got it covered... a DD20 GigaDelay joined the lineup two months ago.

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

Well I spent a day at GC Hollyweird and tried out a DejaVibe at the Mesa/Boogie store.

Niiiiiice. Like I said I'm getting tired of flangers and choruses and this sounds like just the thing to put a new twist on my sound. Thanks for all the ink. ;)

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

I used this and a Cap't. Coconut.

I soldd that Cap't Coconut because this sounds better.

I looked it up... looks like a killer pedal but I don't quite have $400 to drop on a pedal. :saeek:

On a side note, are there any sonic/component differences between the MINI Deja Vibes and the regular ones?

When I was shopping around for my DejaVibe I emailed Mike Fuller and asked him the same question. He got back to me within a day or two and basically replied by saying, "The new ones are better". That's a classic Mike Fuller response from what I've heard. Regardless of that, I ended up getting a 1996 model (white, fullsize model) for $140 and I love it (listen to my sound bite above). I believe the main difference (other than size) between the two is that the big one uses and 18v power supply and the small one uses a 9v but converts it to 18v internally. The higher voltage is a necessity for the classic univibe tone. Other than that I still don't think you can go wrong with either one... the Fulltone DejaVibe is definitely Mike's best pedal. By the way... I haven't seen the small ones go lower than $200

The problem with the 9v converters is that the vibe circuit is very sensitive to voltage, and the voltage doubling circuit doubles the varience in voltages....something that can potentially alter the tone depending on how much current your power supply provides.

Bob Sweet (sweetsound.com) said he was considering going back to an 18v system because of this. I don't think he's done it yet however.

The Sweetsound "Ultravibe" is Bob Sweet's fullsize version of his MojoVibe. The Ultravibe is a very sought after pedal. The nice thing about that version was it had 2 stomp switches, one for ON/OFF and the other toggled between CHORUS/VIBRATO, a very cool convenience. I think the reason he and Mike Fuller both made smaller versions of their original Univibe clones was so they could try to attract more business... not necessarily for "tonal" improvements.

Looks like you'll just have to BUY THEM ALL and decide for yourself!!!!!

Re: Fulltone Deja Vibes

I had one. Sold it almost right away. Mine just wasn't deep and lush enough...the effect was to subtle. I love my Fulltone Clyde Wah and '69 pedal but the Deja Vibe just didn't do it for me. I like the cheap-o Danolectro stereo chorus the Cool Cat (or is it the Daddy-O?) better...it's a little noisy but plug into two amps for a nice stereo spread and the tone is totally HUGE and very deep! I also like the little non stereo Boss Chorus in the blue box better...that's the one David Gilmore uses. I forget the number...maybe CS-2? Lew

The CE-2. I'd love to get a Keeley modded version of one of those.

Actually I have a Cool Cat, and you're right that thing is cool. And its reassuring to hear its praises being sung by the Tone Yoda himself.
