Fulltone-Fulldrive 2-Do you like it?

I have found an amazing deal on one online,but I want a few more specifics;

1.)Is it more of a classic rock/blues type of an overdrive?

2.)What type of tones can I expect?

3.)Will parachute pants ever come back in style?

Thanks for the input.Fulltone seems to get a thumbs up everywhere I go,so it seems to be a pretty safe investment.

Thanks,

1) the fd2 is a cool unit. id say over all it is more of a classic rock/blues overdrive but its pretty versitle. probably not a good metal pedal.

2)the new ones have three modes all three having a boost available.
one is basically a clean boost, the other is a medium gain brighter overdrive, the last is a big warm sustainy overdrive

3) i sure hope not, very mc hammer

Re: Fulltone-Fulldrive 2-Do you like it?

That's mostly what I was wondering. For blues and classic rock tones I'm playing through a Voodoo Labs Sparkle Drive and a modded TS-9 and that does the job for these tones for me :) I'm looking for a more rectified metal tone.

As far as the parachute pants thing,I'll survive without em :laugh2:

1. I use mine for metal, and it works great. It's still very transparent, but I use it to add an extra gain stage for that creamy distortion sound. You can hear a song here http://www.soundclick.com/bands/0/twilightodysseymusic.htm ... all of the rhythm guitars are FD-2 going into a Rivera Knucklehead.

2. The FD-2, when used by itself into the clean channel of your amp, will get very saturated, but in terms of gain, will be kinda low-gain Plexi-ish. In the gain channel, tho, the FD-2 turns your head into a raging metal machine. The extra gain stage is creamy as all get out, tons of sustain, low in noise, high in harmonic content. You end up with a tone that's rich, deep, and MASSIVE.

3. There are cargo pants out now made from the parachute pants material. I love em!!

To me, there's two very similar pedals....the Fulltone FDII and the Banzai Fireball II.
They both sound great, but the Fulldrive is a bit smoother, while the Fireball is a bit heavier sounding. If you're a strat or tele player, the Fulldrive will fit the bill better.
If you're a rock/humbucker player, the Fireball will suit you better. Both are around $200, but they're both pro quality OD's.

To be honest, I like the Coldfusion better than the Fireball, although the Fireball is more versatile. If I didn't have my Klon Centaur, I wouldn't have sold the Coldfusion.
The Banzai CF is a very fat sounding cleanboost/overdrive. Put one in front of a Fender or Vox, and it'll beef it up to sound like a Marshall. Put one in front of a Marshall, and it'll sound like a Bogner. The Coldfusion is a badass overdrive pedal!

Have you had any experience with the Banzai New Rising Sun II Triple Boost?

Re: Fulltone-Fulldrive 2-Do you like it?

Marinblues uses a Banzai Fireball-sounds great IMO.

I have played through a FD-2 and a Fender Vibro King. It will give a great clean boost and gain is great. For my tastes, it was set at a pretty low gain level and just added that perfect amount of richness to the VK.
