fulltone gt500

Chickenwings

Alnico 6/8
So it took nearly a dozen od pedals before i finally settled on a fulldrive as a permanent fixture on my board.
Ive been thru a lot of pedals looking for something with a harder edge to try to coax a rockier sound from my fender amp. This pedal will sit next to the fulldrive.
Spent a lot of time with Ds1 (modded and stock), Mi Tube zone, Hartman LM308, a wampler hot wired and a (borrowed) ocd. I do like the ocd, but i have taken a gamble and bought a second hand GT 500 on ebay. Im hoping it will replace both the hartman and an MI boost n buff on my board. I also hope its as good as the ocd. I guess ive had good success with fulltone pedals (got a deja vibe and an octafuzz as well), so im hoping this one will become permanent too.
Anyone else owned or used one of these? Im a bit excited!

Re: fulltone gt500

Having just picked up an OCD myself, I'm intrigued. It's red, it's named after a car (Is it?), and it has cool styling. Plus, I'm a sucker for double pedals.

Re: fulltone gt500

Friend of mine has one; I've never got on with it. Hope it scratches your itch!

Even the worst pedal can be perfect for some applications, which is why I never regret grabbing another pedal if the price is right.

Re: fulltone gt500

i guess this will be for a different application. I like the ocd and how i can use it as a second channel on a clean amp, just hoping this thing sounds pretty good too.

Re: fulltone gt500

just rejuvenating the thread now i actuallu have played with one....
its good.
very very good.
both sides:
the boost is excellent because you can tailor the eq and add a little grit if thats what you require.
The dirty side is great! Rich and responsive to your dynamics as well as volume knob stuff.
Lots of harmonics. plenty of fat bottom end if you want it. As much mid as you can handle and a top end that does not get shrill -it juts makes it cut more. All in all the best, most natural sounding hard clipping circuit i have tried.
I can think of any overdrive or distortion tones i could not get with the combination of the fuldrive and the gt. Im pretty happy. These two pedals together would cover any bases for a session player or live player if used in conjunction with a nice fenderish tube amp. The dirty channel on the gt is good enough that ill have no need to cart a marshall amp around for great crunch tones to gigs.

Re: fulltone gt500

lol - juts realized i better do an update later on when i get a chance to try the strat thru it for a few hours too. All of the above post was based on how it goes with a 335.

Re: fulltone gt500

That's the same thing my buddy chris uses, he uses a tele through a fender twin with the fulldrive and the gt500 with a ts9dx in between for a fattener for solos. He sounds phenomenal
