IMO, if you don't have a good amp, save your money for that first before you get an OCD, since it's designed to work with a good amp.

I won't comment much on the Tim & Timmy, since I haven't played mine enough, HOWEVER, most players agree that they're excellent pedals at a fair price. Many LOVE the EQ sections of both pedals, and use them with other pedals for that reason.

As far as clips, I listen to them, but I often say there are a couple of aspects to amps & pedals: the way they SOUND, and the way the FEEL. You can compare tone often, but the thing clips can't convey is the FEEL of a pedal or amp, and to me, that's just as important.

As a proud OCD owner since May '05 (I've got Version I) I can tell you from experience that there's a lot of be had from playing with the OCD's controls, the settings of the amps you're using it with, and the guitars you're using. You really need to run the pedal through it's full range to get a true sense of how it works.

It's actually a fairly odd comparison to make, because the two pedals have very different voicings, and the Timmy's forte is not in trying to sound like an OCD. The Timmy can do things in the boost-low gain area that the OCD is incapable of, particularly when it comes to maintaining an amp and guitar's true character, which is no mean feat in a pedal. There's a certain 'generic' quality to the OCD, whereas the Timmy truly earns the often quoted 'transparent' badge. When it comes to sounding like an OCD, there is one clear winner. Timmy's a different beast altogether, and is capable of so much more than one over-anxious guitar player's demo on You Tube can represent.

Im curious how you can claim that the OCD is "better" than a tim(my) and you haven't even tried one...

Anyway the tim(my) pedals are quite nice... only spent a few inutes wiht an OCD so I won't compare but the Tim(my) pedals are pretty killer.

I do suggest really spending some time wiht pedals before you decide to boot them so kudos for that...I hope you are able to dial in the OCD to your liking...

Nothing is sadder than watching a guy go through 20 amps, 35 pedals and 12 sets of pickups in less than 6 months owning nothing longer than a week...there is no way you can find out everything about any peice of gear in 3 or 4 days...

To me they sound really f---in' similar. Can't say how they "feel", and don't care. They sound great. I have A/B'd the OCD against a lot of pedals from the Jetter Gain Stage to the Xotic stuff and Zen Drive. I have a friend who buys every pedal known, I can't even name some they are so oddball and boutique. They are ALL good.

The OCD is more easily available, sounds good, and fits in my gig bag. I have been happy with the Fulltone stuff and it works for me. I can put it thru Marshalls, Fenders, Bogners etc and its nice. I love it through my Shiva or the XTC Plexi mode.

It's usually the biggest and nastiest sounding, but some stuff like the Jetter sounds real sweet and refined, and rich. Problem is, I'd like to hear how people milk these pedals in bands and in studios. These sound samples really don't say squat about actual music, and how these pedals help the guitar fit.

I thought they both sounded great.

But then I'm listening on my computer speakers tonight, so, yeah.

I may have slightly preferred the OCD in that clip.

I've heard that clip before - both pedals do sound a bit similar in the video, with the OCD having more bite. I have a newer OCD V4 and its a really, really useful pedal. It does everything from low-mid gain rhythm with my strat to searing leads with my LP. You need gear that sounds good in the first place though before you add the OCD.

I prefer the Timmy based on that clip. Cleaner through the midrange, with less of that classic od pedal mid-munge.

The two OCDs I've come across have both been different sounding and particularly average, at least for my tastes. Apparently there are several different builds out there, so I'll keep an open mind about that pedal, but based on the evidence before me thusfar I'm deeply unimpressed. Strange, as every other fulltone I've tried has been killer at what it does...
