Re: Fulltone OCD
4 Versions. (Basically, V1.1, V1.2, V1.3, V1.4. For ease of writing, I'll say V1, V2, V3, V4)
V1. Was the brightest and bassiest. Like, the most extreme sounding. Not in a good way.
V2. I believe it was less bright, fuller sounding
V3. Improvement over the V2. Some of the V3s were labeled V4 inside, but weren't REALLY V4s.
V4. was a total rumor at first, but is actually totally legit. These are the latest production ones.
I own a V3 and am totally satisfied with it.
I wouldn't worry about trying to score an old one, because supposedly the new ones are the MOST amplike and tubelike. In short, there's nothing really great about the older versions, cuz the newer versions sound better than the last.
I love my OCD. Definitely not tubescreamer op-amp -ish. Very amplike. Realistically gritty. 2 modes. For the price, I think the OCD is a steal. And you can score them used for about $125.
The only downside: Don't bother to try to use it as a distortion pedal. turning the gain past noon increases the bass SO much, it just startes to flub and rumble. Under noon, it sounds great.
