No they are just expensive, most highquality FET's simply just cost alot, we buy big quantities and they are still expensive, all in all the AC-Tone should be more expensive than the Plexitone, as it uses FET's as well.

Sweeeeet! I will definitely be trying one of these out. I'm totally satisfied with my OCD, but I'm really anxious to see what magic they did on this one.
I've tried a couple of JFET and MOS FET pedals, and I generally like them a lot. JFETs are often described as being very tube-like in response, and I tend to agree with that description. They also seem to be very low in noise when well-made. A FET pedal will sound a lot different than a TS-style opamp pedal like the FD2. I use an Orman-based JFET clean boost pedal (RGW's Bad Bob Boost) after a FD2 and/or an Xotic BB preamp, and they sound great together. The Fulltone Fat Boost is also an Orman-based JFET booster, but I didn't like it as much as others I've tried. However, this new Fulltone pedal will definitely be worth a spin.
Distortion pedals usually sound like 'buzz city' on really clean amps, but the FDII does pretty well. I'm sure the OCD and GT-350 will sound great on amps that are already set at midgain.
All you guys that are looking for serious gain out of amps that aren't quite there......this GT-350 looks like the pedal for that. It seems expensive, until you realize that you own it for years, and can't live without it.
I think you nailed it Joe , the FDII sounds cool on fenders or with a marshall type amp set up for mid gain and using the FDII to kick it in the ass. the OCD is awesome as well i use it with my Roccaforte to kick the crunch factor up. and the FDII for leads since it has a nice mid range bump. and if i want to get crazy i use the fat boost too !!!!!!!!!!! that beeing said i want to check out the GT-350.
