Diminished Triad

It started with light pops (about 5 minutes after powering up, tuning my guitar and warming up)...then a hum with increasing electrical sound (as opposed to hum caused by pickups, etc). Turned off the amp...turned it back on and no light....no anything. Checked the fuse and discovered a blown fuse - my little experience with trouble shooting amps is that a blown fuse is almost always symptomatic of a separate problem.
Do these symptoms (starting with some light frequency popping, then a hum, and then a stronger hum almost like a smooth operating electric chair!) point to something obvious other than a big problem?
Going to take the amp in later today - almost brand new never cranked up or played outdoors...probably a few months old (Fender Super-Sonic 100).
Thanks for any help you can share!
