Fusion Is Right About F Spaced SG Bridge Pickup!

The original Gibson SG pickup is spaced like an F spaced Dimarzio pickup....I matched up the original Gibson bridge pickup to the F spaced Fred I have in my black strat and they match up the same...

I'd be happier with the F spaced VPAF Hot and I'm sure Dimarzio would swap pickups with me....

Anyway....Here's the Gibson pickup on top of the F spaced Fred...The camera angles sucks, but the spacings are the same.

This picture shows the F Spaced pole center positions of the Fred on the index card and the Gibson pickup is lined up with the index card markings...Not exact, but closer than the STD spaced pole spacings....

Hehehe, sorry if I was too anal, I just was wondering if it was only me that got bothered by the misaligned polepieces. I kinda wish stuff like that didn't bother me, and if it creates a "new" disorder for you, I guess I'll have to front your first therapy session lol.

LOL.....It's not a big deal and I really appreciate the heads up! I'll call Dimarzio tomorrow and see about switching to the F spaced...It's a long term thing and I Might as well get the right one in there! Thanks again! :beerchug:

Re: Fusion Is Right About F Spaced SG Bridge Pickup!

Here is what I have noted about string spacing and pickups:

Seymour Duncan standard spacing center of E to center of E polepiece: 1 15/16"
Seymour Duncan Trembucker spacing center of E to center of E polepiece: 2 1/16"
Dimarzio spacing center of E to center of E polepiece: a hair more than 1 29/32" (between 1 7/8" & 1 15/16")
Dimarzio F-spacing center of E to center of E polepiece: 2"
Gibson standard spacing (neck): 1 15/16"
Gibson treble spacing (bridge): 2"

Yep....So the F spaced Dimarzio will line up perfectly!

Re: Fusion Is Right About F Spaced SG Bridge Pickup!

And for those that are on the fence about a standard spaced or F-spaced/Trembucker spaced pickup for the bridge in a Gibson, an F-Spaced Dimarzio is a PERFECT fit, the standard spaced versions of either is off, and the SD Trembucker is off, but still closer than the standard spaced SD.

Great info and I printed the measurement specs for later issues etc...

Re: Fusion Is Right About F Spaced SG Bridge Pickup!

My MIJ Epiphone has wider pole piece spacing at the bridge also and the F-spaced VHPAF lines up just perfectly. I measured the stock made in USA Gibson pups before ordering and was surprised to discover this.

I assumed I needed the STD spaced bridge pickup...You know what happens when we ass/u/me? No biggie...I'll box er up and trade with Dimarzio for the double creme F spaced tomorrow...
