Fuzz box shootout!!!

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

Danoelectro Fab Tone for extreme fuzz!!!! Diamond Fireburst for more controllable distortion-fuzz

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

AnalogMan Sunface NKT 275, it seems to have a beautiful balance of fatness, fluteyness (is that a word? well, it is now...) and enough snarl to still be "fuzzy." I've been putting it in the loop of my new Foxrox Octron2 and giving it three octaves to chew on...it's a face melter.

Cheers.................wahwah

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

i really like my voodoo lab superfuzz, not for the feint of heart

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

I love the FoxRox FuzzFoot, I am not alwys thrilled with my HBE UFO
I am considering a SuperFuzz as well, I liked it in the store.

I have limited experience with the Fulltone stuff but it has me interested

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

Bad Monkey. Sounds good. Mainly, its the separate bass and treble controls that give it so much tonal versatility. I doubt I'd ever buy another single-tone-control pedal again.

(Because I already own a Tubulator. Its like the "Sweet & Lo" of distortion.)

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

I love fuzz's and have had a lot of them over the years, right now Im down to

-Green Sovtek Big Muff
-Fulltone Ultimate Octave
-Roger Mayer Axis Fuzz
-Duncan Tweak Fuzz

Those are the 4 I have right now that I woudl call a FUZZ, however the Expandora can get into fuzztone tone real quick, and I love that pedal too

As for why...those pedals sounds good but all VERY different.

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

I have tried quite a few fuzzes out at the guitar shop, and after a long hard shootout between the Ultimate Fuzz Octave, Zvex Fuzz Factory, and the Demeter Fuzzulator. I chose the Fuzzulator, It has a very large range of tones, less than the fuzz factory but i doubt anything has quite that range of tones. It has Three Knobs and one toggle Switch, Level, Volume, and Tone. The Switch changes from silicon to germainium, Tight, Loose.
This pedal has almost no learning curve, which is why i chose it, all the settings on it sound good and are eazy to use. The fuzz factory was very hard to dial in right, Shecterplayer does alot better job of it than me.

I love this fuzz, i got it for Christmass and the honeymoon seems to never end.

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

Good call on the Sun Face, and Fuzz Foot. I have a CC2 that I'd like to get a Hot Si card and NKT-275 Sun Face card for.

I'm on a serious Muff kick lately, I have a Swollen Pickle clone that's HUGE, and I'd really like to try out a Skreddy Mayo and ? Lady.

Those 4 have to be the cream of the crop.

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

All my fuzzers are totally different, and I like them for different reasons.

The Boss FZ-2 gets crazy, and it doesn't even sound chords out properly, but single note lines with low output pickups sound like a saxaphone.

The Keeley RAT II I have has all the rich overtones of an awesome fuzz, but full-voiced chords sound out well, even with heavy distortion.

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

I love the sounds from my Tonefactor Huckleberry. It cleans up very well, has a huge range of fuzz tones from its EQ knob, and pushes other OD/dist boxes for a rich distortion tone. Very versatile!

Re: Fuzz box shootout!!!

- Diamond Fireburst: Because you it's very versatile and can get raunchy when I need it too.
- EHX Big Muff: It's a classic

Those are the only two I own, so I wont speak for other ones; but there are a hell of a lot more that I want!
