Fuzz pedals possibly Tonebender

I'm looking at getting another fuzz pedal (I have a Big Muff and a BOSS FZ-3)
I really like the fuzz tone on Edwyn Collins "A girl like you" I have heard that this is possibly a ToneBender.
Pedals I'm considering are the
BYOC ESV Mk II
MJM Britbender
Throbak Stonebender

The last one is a but pricey for me. Any other suggestions, it doesn't need to be vintage perfect but have that raunchy sound and be in that ballpark

I have no experience with any of these pedals but I have talked with TGWIF many times and the best route to go would be the BYOC.

BTW I'm pretty sure that tone is a tonebender too.

Boss HyperFuzz if you can find one, most bang for the buck and you can get some really killer sounds out of it. I wouldn't sell mine.

you can make a tonebender clone with parts from general guitar gadgets. That song has a very distinctive fuzz sound. Much less bottom end than a regular fuzzface sound.

Of these 3 I'd try a BYOC first or if you don't want to mess with a kit the MJM...the MJM clips I've heard didn't blow me away but I have heard guys that I trfust rave about it so I assume at this point that the clips were just lame but the pedal is good.

The BYOC is actually pretty solid and for the price can not be beat...

The Throbak is a pretty lame MK II Bender IMHO...the guy that builds them tweaked them for some very specific sounds and IMHO ruined the pedal...

Throback is okay if you're after one sound. If you're looking for a killer MKII clone, I would recommend the Black Cat Mk II. That thing just KILLED at the NY Amp Show and I'm saving my coins for one as we speak ...

True!

However the Black Cat is VERY limited production and is nearly 3 bills!

On a budget the BYOC is still likely your best bet, that said if you can muster up 3 bills your options go upa lot...JMI, Black Cat, Lumpy, etc...

Typo in the original post I have the FZ-2 Hyper Fuzz. Is it worth getting a tonebender as well I played around with it and my les paul yesterday and got some cool tones!

Re: Fuzz pedals possibly Tonebender

check the Death By Audio fuzz pedals.. I haven't tried one myself, but the youtubes videos sound awesome.
