Fuzz pedals

I'm working on an experimental indie-rockish band which will contain a lot of somewhat noisey (but not nonsensical rubbish) jams and whatnot, and a lot of stuff I have in my head at the moment would require a fuzz pedal. I was looking at Z.Vex's line of fuzz pedals (Fuzz Factory, Fuzz Probe, and even the Mammoth) and think they seems cool, but I was wondering what everybody else thought when it comes to fuzz. Anything anybody has that they really enjoy and would be fun to mess with?

Also, something that would sound cool with my Arion SAD-1 mixed in would be awesome.

Re: Fuzz pedals

The Fuzz Factory and Fuzz Probe are great for that genre. The great thing about the probe is you can set it up to oscillate, then use the probe portion to alter the pitch and bring it back into recognizable fuzz territory.

Other cool fuzzes are the Red Witch Fuzz God, Tonefactor Ultra-Lord and Subdecay Noisebox

Re: Fuzz pedals

Check out a Duncan Tweak Fuzz. I don't mean to sound like some fan boy, but it really is a sweet pedal, and that Tweak knob is great.

Re: Fuzz pedals

Danoelectroc Fab Tone is The Fuzz i like.....:) I use them quite often and i pick them up for like $40-$60 Canadian used... these are the full sized Danos not the minis....

The Red Witch seems really awesome. I had never heard of it before. Thanks.

Re: Fuzz pedals

The Big Muff is more traditional though. I want something with more room for experimentation, which is why the Fuzz Probe caught my attention me so much. I also like the "Wrath" option on the Red Witch.

Any others?

Re: Fuzz pedals

Mixing phaser and wah after a fuzz drenched tone can get some great nasty and noisy sounds. It's not strictly a fuzz, but I have been using a Rat II for a while, and that gets really nasty whenyou want it to, or all thick and gooey when you don't. Also check out some of the D*A*M fuzzes, some great retro inspired wierdness there. But for sheer wacky versatility, its though to beat the Fuzz Factory.

Re: Fuzz pedals

Also check out Effector 13, they have some crazy fuzzes, and do a search for the B:Assmaster, it's pretty instense. The Fender Blender can do some interesting things too. I've been doing some searching and the Shin-ei FY-2 seems to get some response about insane sounding fuzzes. Maybe a Zoom Ultra Fuzz too.

Good luck. :)

Re: Fuzz pedals

Thanks for the suggestions. That Graphic Fuzz is rather intimidating, but looks amazing. However, I don't have a power supply, so I would prefer something that can be battery operational.
