FX unit power cord ?

I got an old MXR pedal and it has a hardwired power cord on it. It has the ground pin cut off and I jsut wanted to know why people did this, as I have seen a TON of them with the same thing done.

Does it sound better without the ground ? Can I have a new 3 prong cord wired in without affecting the sound? Thanks for any info.

they probably did it so it would fit into there power soccet. i dont know if it will affect the tone any but if it was made with a ground cord i would replace it. you dont even need to take the cord off. go to lowes and by a new end. cut the old one off and put the new one on. just make sure you get the wires right. the hot wire (im assuming black) should go to the littler or the 2 ends.

I think I will replace it, but the cord itself is looking real shabby so I'll just replace it too. Thanks.
