G&L ASAT Special

MF had these sub-$1000 and I grabbed one. Figured I could just return and hello sailor! not returning it.

I wanted a Tele with a RW board and some hot pickups. This filled the bill completely and workmanship is outstanding.

My only complaint is they didn't even attempt to intonate. I find that inexcusable. The only explanation I can come up with is that they rely on their dealers to do that and we all know big online dealers won't be bothered.

Re: G&L ASAT Special

My father has an ASAT carved top (Tribute...) It also arrived totally un-intonated.

I'm tempted now; you got the right color, and that one's no longer on sale. $900 a US sunburst at the moment... Hmm. G&Ls are always favorites, amazing guitars.

Re: G&L ASAT Special

that is fantastic!
Dont worry about the setup or intonation...all of us guitar nerds do our own setups anyway depending on string gauge and feel preference. Why would the factory waste time on it when they know it will get changed as soon as it reaches the shop and probably again at the home.

I agree... Then my seventy year old dad buys one and wonders why it sounds weird for two months until I come to visit :D If saving ten minutes of a tech's time a the factory saves $10 for me it's worth it, but there's a lot of reputation risk at stake for those with more money than setup skills who pick up these guitars.
