On further study... I do still want one, because it's basically a better looking, more ergonomic ASAT. I hear the pickups are very close to jumbo MFDs. If I bought a new guitar right now it would be a Doheny.
I mentioned above I already have a couple Jazzmasters when I need that sound; I really do like the stock Jaguar/Jazzmaster bridge as well, probably more than a Strat style bridge. I find it very difficult to get used to the low profile and cramped placement of the trem boss on a Strat bridge, and it's less easy to do subtle warbles with. The Jaguar bridge/trem are comfortable, work well and have a unique sound. The DFV on the G&L is at least typically a bit higher than a regular Strat bridge, but I would get my Doheny hardtail.
