G&L Telecaster

3 way switch; neck position works fine as does the bridge position, but in the middle pos only the neck pup comes on, no bridge pup at all. Fixed it once already but even after the fix the middle pos seemed to not have as much volume as each pup by them selves. Now it's back with the same original problem no sound from bridge pup in the middle pos. Bad switch??? I did notice the original soldering on the switch was poor, very bad workmanship, also vol pot has a cap on it which I assume is a treble bleed, however no resister just the cap (never seen it w/o a resister). Advice?

Re: G&L Telecaster

Maybe try replacing the whole electronics, should be 2 pots and a switch only, right?

If the middle position has lower output than either pickup on their own, they may have been wired out-of-phase accidentally is my guess.

Re: G&L Telecaster

I'd replace the switch first. The good news is that a Tele has about the easiest switch to replace of any guitar.

Re: G&L Telecaster

If the original workmanship appears poor (surprising for G&L) then replace and resolder the thing...two pots, a switch and a cap cost little... having done right is the way to go...also might consider a 4 way switch so you can have bridge and neck in series...some tele players dig the punch that setup gives...
