G&L tone circuit question

Hey all,

I installed a JB in the bridge of my G&L Comanche that is wired exactly like the S-500. I noticed that the JB sounds extremely dark and muddy. How's that for unexpected?

I was wondering if some of the kind folks here could take a look at the PDF schematic and see if anything might be suspect. I'm wondering myself about what the C3 cap does.

c3 is merely a low-pass filter. so that could be affecting it a little

I looked at it some more and the way it was wired, that .001uF cap was always going to ground. I removed it and it sounds like someone unstuffed a wet pillow from my guitar. No more mud.
