I've been using a Wampler Tumnus with my Marshall Mini Jubilee since last July and it's amazing. First of all it has more volume on tap than you'll ever need, so you don't have to worry about balancing volume and saturation like you frequently have to do with a Tube Screamer. The Tumnus's mid-push is also variable and dependent on how high the gain control is set; it's close to flat with the gain low, but you get more mids as the gain increases. Lastly it has a bit more low end than most klones, so I think it'll work nicely to push and fatten up your DSL. I use mine for a lead boost, but there are plenty of players that use a Klon(e) always-on.
The best way I can describe what the Tumnus does to your sound is: "It's everything you like about your current sound, just more."

I was suprised at how much I liked it. But if you want a straight distortion pedal, try the Empress heavy, and Yerasov preamps. They are great. Eh, too many choices lol.

I have the Sovereign. Its a distortion pedal to me, not an OD. Nothing wrong with that, just saying. I have several Wampler pedals, and they are quality pedals BUT, the only OD I ever put on my board thats never left is my Way Huge Saucy box. If it dies, I will get another one. I like how you can crank the volume but it does a self balancing thing so it never goes way beyond the volume you need. I like some distortion, not really a clean player and that pedal kicks butt for me. Harmonics just pop out, just my tone but more. I use mine to drive a tube amp and like I said, its not leaving my board. I use no drive, dime the volume and it tightens the low end and just kicks for me.

Been wanting to try the Killing Floor. My concern is the toggle vs an EQ section. Should that be a concern?

For old thrash a Tubescreamer or OCD will probably fit the bill nicely.
I personally use a precision drive but it’s a very subtle effect compared to something like a MXR GT-OD which is also awesome.
