I remember when I started, people talked about how this guitar played really well, or that guitar played really poorly. It seems like it was a little while before I could tell a Custom Shop Les Paul from a strung up broomstick. The only thing that really bugged me was sticky neck finishes. I do remember I could play fairly well by the time I tried a set of 10s and noticed they sounded better than the 9s I was using.
Tough to answer. I would think that somewhere at the beginning there’s a point where you don’t know better.
Once you know better, the answer can be had.
