Garageband Jam

Recorded on top of a backing provided by the 'Magic' garage band hiding somewhere inside my iMac...

The programme itself is pretty cool for something included in the price of the system, I don't actually know very much about using it yet but I've had a lot of fun jamming today and hooking up our electric piano to trigger the synth stuff etc. The guitar amp sims are passable definitely, I used guitar port on this recording but have got a decent lead tone out of the garageband guitar amp sim.

I'm going to get logic studio as soon as my student loan comes through. Man I'm excited about playing music again, it's awesome!

These tutorials are pretty good. I've found a few others along the way. Its a very basic program, but very funtional at the same time. What you might want to consider is to buy a good quality audio interface like an MBox. The MBox comes with Pro tools LE software. Its not the full blown version that a pro studio would have but you can record some really cool stuff with it and there are all kinds of plug ins available for pro tools.

Re: Garageband Jam

Cheers Rid, well I tried out the camera on this thing a few days ago - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GOL47G1MGx4 it's not note perfect to the original and not the cleanest of playing either but in truth I haven't practiced much recently. I think the firs thing I should practice is not bizarrely licking my lips while playing???!? LOL

Cheers for the link Bludave. Yeah I've heard about the Mbox and pro tools LE, but as I want to be playing around with a lot of synths etc I'm going to go for Logic Studio when I get my student loan through. Plus, two other guys in my house should be running it and you can network Macs to use the processing power to run more plugins should you need to so I'm quite looking forward to it :)

Re: Garageband Jam

[frisbee]Ultimate is going well yeah, just in the process of getting fit ready for the indoor season, I move back to uni next weekend. I'm vice captain of my uni team this year, meaning I lead any training sessions/tournaments where the captain can't attend, and I'm also responsible for fitness work/warmups etc at training so it will take up a lot of my time, but I'm really looking forward to it. I pretty much spent this whole year playing ultimate and sleeping...[/frisbee]

Hopefully I'll get something else recorded next week before I go back to uni :)

Re: Garageband Jam

Good to see you check in. I was wondering how you've been....but I know you've got a busy schedule.

Cool clip. Your playing sounds like it's maturing nicely....lots of great lines in there!

Re: Garageband Jam

Hey man cheers for checking it out. Thanks for the compliments - I actually find I have more ideas when improvising these days, despite the fact I haven't played as much. My technique is sloppy due to a lack of practice, but I'm a good 3 or so inches slimmer round the waist than I was a year ago. That's meant buying new jean$ though, so I don't know if it's really a positive counter argument... haha

Re: Garageband Jam

Nice clips Nuntius, you always post impressive stuff :) Garageband has been completely flooring me, it's a really cool program. Sounds like you're doing some crazy stuff with it, I gotta play with it some more!
