original '59 PAF in the bridge. Out of phase Gibson pickup from a 60's ES in the neck installed backwards.......that is what was in the Peter Green guitar that he sold recently....can't help ya with his newer axes. If you want thew out of phase sound, you probably need to go either with one of Seymour's CS Peter Green sets or the Wagner Moore/Green set.

Really depends on which era....fusion days...thin lizzy days...corrridors of power days....out in the field days....blues days....:smack:
Gary used Gibson dirty fingers for a while back. More recently Gibson burstbuckers (Type 1 & 2???). I really like the set that came in his signature Les Paul....sound like vintage to me (for a guy who has never played anything made before the 80s!:chairfall )
Gary had at least 2 vintage Les Pauls. The ex-Peter Green "greeny" Les Paul is the one that gets all the news especially since Gary sold it but I heard Gary recorded just as much with the other 59. Probably original PAFs in that guitar too.

He did mess with EMGs in his charvels, fenders, and Heritage models back in the late 80s/early 90s, and I know in the early/mid 80s he had a Duncan endorsement.
Nowadays Gary pretty much is one of those guys who uses what came in the guitar. If a guitar sounds good he plays it just like it is. Most of his guitars fender or Gibson new or old are stock.

Anytime I play something by Gary Moore, particularly the Still Got the Blues album, I get closest to the sound with a 59N in a Les Paul. I'm assuming he uses Alnico 5 more often.....but that's just an assumption, based on the fact that I don't nail the tone using Seth Lovers.

I don't want to hijack this thread; however, I used to be a really big fan of GM. I read where Peter Green had sort of fixed his mental problems through therapy and meds and is now half/way normal. PG came to him and asked for for the LP to be given back. GM refused. I can understand. It was a gift. Then GM sells it. The problem I have is that nowhere have I read that he ever offered it back, even if by selling it, to PG. Maybe I'm wrong though....

I never heard that story. I have an interview with Peter Green that is from a few years ago that talks about that Les Paul and he basically bad mouths it. He's says the neck was like a tree trunk and it wasn't very comfortable to play. He also says he is done with Les Pauls and wouldn't want his old guitar back. He could have changed his mind though I guess. I wish Gary would do some interviews and let us know why the heck he sold it.
Most recently, Peter's family and I believe a government agency that is responsible for monitoring his condition and well-being stepped in to get him out of the Peter Green Splinter group and away from Nigel Watson. There was a lot of concern that they were taking advantage of Peter and basically forcing him to tour and record. Peter is now back in seclusion I believe. There is a now a court case going on (Peter Green vs. Nigel Watson) but there is a gag order in effect so you don't see a lot about it.
With everything that has gone on I don't know if Peter will ever be half/way normal. Back when he made one of his first comebacks (late 70's I think)Mick Fleetwood bought him a 1959 Les Paul to help get him started. Peter had it for a few weeks then just gave it to some guy he met on an elevator. Mick had to then hunt the burst down to get it back.

This is along the lines of what I've heard as well. PG is unfortunately "not in his right mind". I'd be inclined not to believe much that comes out of his mouth. I've dealt with enough people like that to know. I feel bad for the guy, don't get me wrong. But I suspect Peter's side of the story changes with his mood swings. This is where Michael Schenker is gonna end up

As for Gary's current pups:
'58 & 59 LP have original PAFS. His signature model had Burstbuckers, but I thought I read where he had a set of Rolphs installed (geez, now I'm sounding like the LP Forum:chairfall ).
He also uses a '61 SG/LP reissue with standard '57 Classics

Absolutely.
Peter spent way too many years wandering the streets on psychotropic meds and not being monitored. The uncontrolled use of the older meds have done as much damage as the Schizophrenia. Too bad he didn't have some of the newer antipsychotics available at that time (Zyprexa, Risperdal, etc). They have a much lower side-effect profile.
