Hello folks,

I mainly have a lowly stratocaster and a Ibanez S540QM (japanese) which i´m selling for about 1.200 U$ (it has EMGs). I live in Brazil so theres no way i can test the guitars im gasing for... hear they are:

ESP LTD EX-400BD
ESP LTD EC-1000VTB
ESP LTD DV8R
And i´m also considering building a new strat with a maple fingerboard, org and some high output pickups ...

I´ve been playing mainy strats for a long time, so all these guitars are very different from what i´m used to... could you tell me your apointments for the models ? I see that if i get the EX-400 i´ll have to change the tunners to sperzel and the bridge to a Tone pros ...

By the way none of them exceed 1000 bucks ...

Thank you all

Depends on what you're looking for. I had a LTD Ec-1000 in Vintage black (the satin finished one) and it was awesome. I only sold it 'cause I didn't need it anymore (and couldn't part with my other ec-1k, the ambersunburst one). EMGs, sperzel tuners, tonepros, ebony board. That thing was a great player and sounded really good. No reason not to go for it IMO.

I can't comment on the other ones but out of the three, that's the one I'd go for. I'm not a fan of pointy axes, including Vs and explorer-type axes...

I've always liked the way those EC's looked and sounded. :burnout:

I see ... the looks on these ec-1k series are awesome ... let me ask you something ... how does the tone of and alder body compares to a mahogany one ... (the same kind of body .. lets say strat) ?

DV8 is the flying V one right?
i like V's so my vote goes to DV8R. however i've never tried one before :D

HI ! i´ve been taking a look at Warmoth this morning ... i´ve decide !
i´ll build a custom strat

just decided for the neck right now ...

Warmoth Pro 25" 1/2
13° Angled Strat
Standard Thin
Satin Finish
6100 Frets
Compound Radius Fretboard
Stratocaster Heel
Standard Black Dot Inlays w/ Black Side Dots
R4 1-11/16" Nut-Width (Prep. for OFR)
25/64" Sperzel Tuners

but which maple to chosse ? standard hard maple ? birdsyey ? or flame ?

if its all about the looks i´ll stay with the hard maple ...
how about stability ?
