GAS shopping list

I will be coming in to a bit of money sometime this month or next. Part of me would love to spend it all on gear, but unfortunately I am too sensible to do that :) I need to put some of it away for moving-related expenses (I am moving to Vancouver in the fall), but the rest is free and clear. I won't be able to buy everything on my wish list, but I'll at least be able to put a fairly big dent in it.

I pose this query to you boys and girls: which of these items do you think would be the best/coolest/most essential purchase?

Here is a list of current gear, along with work I want done:

- Number One Strat: replace current poplar body with one-piece alder body + hard tail bridge.
- Canadacaster (Tele): replace pots and broken switch, replace stock neck pup with SD Vintage Mini Hum (in which case I will also replace the pickguard)
- New USA Strat: replace stock tuners with Sperzel locking tuners
- Simon and Patrick Pro Flame Maple acoustic: no changes
- Line6 PODxt with FBV Shortboard: want FX Junkie model pack
- Atomic Reactor 112 (arriving on Monday :D :D :D ): no changes

Here is a list of new items I have been thinking about:

- Ibanez Artcore AS83 (I've already ordered this, but I haven't put any money down, so it's not set in stone)
- Ibanez SZ520
- Simon and Patrick Showcase Series Rosewood acoustic
- Decent 12 string acoustic
- Decent resonator acoustic
- Some sort of Explorer clone
- Crazy Custom Creation: a mahogany Jazzmaster or Strat with 3 P90's :saeek:

Anyway, what would you spend your money on from the above?

Re: GAS shopping list

Well the 3 P90ed strat is tempting but I think I would go for the POD just becuase I want one to record with at the minute.

Yeah, it is tempting ... you mean you would get the model pack for the PODxt (I already have the PODxt itself)? I think that's on my "for sure" list.

Re: GAS shopping list

I'd spend an extra $50 to get all three model packs actually. There's some great amp models in those packs.

I am most interested in the effects, but you make a good point. You can never have too many amp models! :)

Anyone else have an opinion? Come on ... you know you do ;)

Re: GAS shopping list

I don't know what you sould spend your $$ on, but Drop me a PM when you move to Vancouver and I'll take you around to all the guitar shops if you want, and treat you to a "Welcome to Vancouver, the best city in Canada" adult beverage.

Trevor

PS... If you swap to an alder body, I would probably buy the Poplar one from you!

Thanks! I am looking forward to moving there, and I'd really like to get a band going too. I'll let you know when I have made it.

1. It's a lefty, so probably no use to you
2. I'm not selling it - it has too much sentimental value. I'll probably put it on my wall or something. It has a ton of cool stickers all over the back.

I almost bought a Lefty Charvel just because I like the neck...

When's the move happening?

I wish I knew. I need to find a job and a place to live out there, then I need to make sure I can get out of my lease in Calgary (it ends Dec 31, but I'd like to move before then). It could be next month, or it could be much later than that. I'll keep you posted.

Anyway, enough with the threadjacking ... what should I buy??? Come on ... I know some of you are experts at blowing money on gear :)
