Gas!!!

Re: Gas!!!

It really does look sweet. I love minis in the neck

Anyone had any experience with Xavieres? Are they decent quality?

Re: Gas!!!

i had 2. one was a thinline LP in lemon drop finish. Great guitar, i really couldnt complain. The other was a one of the hollow body LPs and while it played nice and sounded decent, it just felt like a complete piece of crap toy.

So from my experience...they are hit and miss. If i wanted another LP i would buy another thinline in a heartbeat though. Sometimes i miss that guitar.

I guess with hollow bodies it's hard to make a good one cheap, the solid bodies are probably better overall than the semi-hollows/hollows.

Re: Gas!!!

Been looking at these for awhile now, very nice. If they'd only make the headstock a little nicer looking, they'd sell tons.

My mate Tim (Duchead on this forum) has a couple.
Not bad axes. Sound pretty good. General build and hardware seems OK.
They have wide fat necks, which I'm not crazy about.
The biggest drawback to me,is the the finish.
They really plaster them with 2 pack!!
Aside from those couple of criticisms and compared to other guitars in this price range, they are very hard to beat

Cheers,PJ

Re: Gas!!!

It sure is a fine-looking design. I'm not a huge fan of the headstock either, but I don't dislike it—just kinda there, with no oomph. The body shape and finish are quite nice (at least in the picture). If G&L made a quality axe with this styling, I'd be all over it. Would be nice for playing some Police-type stuff.

Re: Gas!!!

My bud has one of the Thinline LPs and it's a pretty cool guitar. Def HUGE bang for buck factor. Plays really well and sounds great.

Re: Gas!!!

Pretty attractive offerings all around

Re: Gas!!!

On the website, the JT90 vintage sunburst with rosewood fretboard just about made me wet my pants. Only $229! But in the description it says, "Bodies are cut from kiln dried Alder", then below it says "Body - solid ash".

Kinda weird.

But it only has 7.5" fretboard radius.

Still I might be tempted to try one.

Re: Gas!!!

I really like the Tele/Jag thing and the soapbar one, but each has a couple turn offs. The Tele-Jag needs the control plate reversed (easy fix), compensated saddles and has a 7.25" radius (I like 9.5 or 10"). The soap bar has a trem, which I never use and if the neck is the same, 7.25" radius.

Cool ideas though, A for Effort!

Re: Gas!!!

The small radius was kinda scary for me, I like a 9.5 inch radius like on my tele. The good thing is that they have a standard strat neck pocket. It would be cool if they made the bodies and pickguards available on their own so people could make customized ones. It would be cool to do something like the jazzmaster/tele from warmoth.

Re: Gas!!!

If you do get one, promise me you'll get rid of the wimpy Mini-Bucker. It just doesn't match the Tele bridge in terms of power.
