You could probably find an older one (used) for less, if you're set on a Fender.

Personally not convinced by tinted/lacquered necks, bent steel saddles.

Don't know how much it matters to you whether it's MIM or MIA.

For a HSS alder bodied, maple necked axe, I'd look for a high end Yamaha Pacifica though, like an 812V. The latter came with Duncans and a trem with ergonomic saddles. Loads of guitar for $$, especially compared to the Fender. Too bad they're discontinued.

I talked myself out of it last night. The neck and middle pickups are Custom Shop Fat 50s. This is the first model to have them and they sound killer. That's why my Gas was so bad. I'm just gonna build one that's a hardtail once I get some cash together.

i am a metalhead and i do know that the HSS strat is more metal-like, but i hate how HSS strats look, SSS or HH for me. Otherwise a gorgeous guitar !

If you make it, HSH is a cool option too !

The modern day Fender stuff is freakin' amazing. When I went on my tele hunt a few weeks ago, I played everything I could get my hands on and the American Deluxe instruments were really tempting. They've really got the fit and finish on these things down, it's just a matter of finding one with the right voicing for you.

Thats the exact guitar i want to add to my collection... it's the same colour as my 1988 American Standard... i'd love a 2nd one... my old one is really worn and will still likely out last me... but i'd love to get a new one

Yeah that pewter looking finish is too cool. If I had a signature guitar, it'd be an ES-335 in that finish.
