Gathering speakers for a 4x12

I've got a Fender Roc Pro 4x12 cab that I'd like to put some real speakers into sometime and thought I'd start gathering them if I see some good deals come along. I'd like it to be 8 ohms when wired up and it would be used with my 55 watt combo. I'm assuming I'd need to be using 8 ohm speakers and should'nt have to be to concerned with wattage rating because at the most it woud be 55 watts shared by the 4 speakers but probably would be split with the amps speaker. Am I on the right track or should I be aware of anything else?

Yeah, four 8 ohm speakers wired in series/parallel will get you 8 ohms.....wattage isn't much of an issue with typical guitar speakers these days if you're only pushing 55 watts with four speakers. Look at buying raw speakers from Avatar, you can't beat that guy's prices! I've got a quad of Hellatone 30's on the way. They're broken in Celestion G12H30's. I'm gonna mix them with G12T75's on my Marshall cabinets.......I'd get two Hellatone 30's and two Hellatone 60's and mix them in an "X" pattern, The Hellatone 60's are broken in Celestion Vintage 30's..........

I've read about those and they do sound cool and alot of guys like that combo. Let me know how you like it. I actually have a V30 right , so I'm on my way.

you should probably figure out what speakers are gonna give you the sound you want before you just buy some

Really, I was just going to buy the cheapest thing I could find . I'm just trying to get my ducks in a row as far as what specs I need to wire it to work with my amps. Deciding on the actual model(s) is going to be a tough call. There are just so many and I havent tried many either.

As much as I dont like the V30 in my 1x12 combo, I think it may be a different story in 4x12. I've read about so many x patterns with V30's and other speakers that I may give that a try. I'm looking for something that would maybe be a little more evenly EQ'd of have a fatter sound than the V30's. I'm all about rock so I'm not looking for the ultra clean tone.

or hellatone 30's

if you don't like something & want something different, there's no use in trying to make them work

speakers are a hard one, since they cost more and are larger than tubes its so much harder to try them out first, but there are so many its hard to decide. I'm in the same boat right now with a 412 cab my boss gave me, and I really have no idea what to put in it.
