Gear used on Pearl Jam's VS album?

Can't find any info about it! :banghead:
It's still my favorite PJ album but it's kinda shrouded in mystery when it comes to recording circumstances. Of course I'm especially interested about mr. McCreadys gear but Stone Gossard's tone is just as fundamental to the sound. And Eddie (no not Van Halen lol) also started playing guitar on this album. So if anyone knows... please speak up!

From what I've gathered so far it was 1993 when it was recorded and that they mostly used JCM800 Marshalls and Fender Tweed amps with an Ernie Ball volume pedal to fade/mix the two amps together. But what about guitars, pickups and other pedals? What about the bass guitar?

Well, growing up a Pearl Jam fan I can tell you they've used A LOT of different equipment over the years.

www.giventowail.com is the site that's always had accurate records of their gear.

What's always surprised me is how they've always used their instruments stock. Granted they have their pick of just about anything considering they've got more money than God.

Those were the guys that got me paying attention to boutique stuff. The Blitz 50 those guys have both used at one time is one of the best Marshall amps I've ever heard.

Yeah I know about that site, great information to be found there! But alas...not much about the gear used on the VS album.

I can get a more than decent pearl jam 90's tone with all my gear but still I would really like to know what those guys used back in the days. Trying to make a complete amplitube pearl jam patch so I can rock out to those tunes I like so much!
So far I got most of it covered using gibsons, marshalls, tubescreamers and fenders but it surprises me that there isn't really anything documented about the stuff they used in the studio in 1993...

Yeah, that is kind of a strange thing, isn't it? They've always had a pretty classic sound to my ears. They've never had any wild amps, just your typical Vox/Marshall/Fender affair with Gibson or Fender instruments with stock electronics. I don't think we'll ever see the day where Stone and Mike are rockin' Washburn or Ibanez and playing through Mesas, Randalls, Kranks....lol.

VS. was a great freakin' album. "Glorified G" was the first solo I ever learned note for note. Then you add songs like "Leash", "Dissident", and "Rearviewmirror" and you've got yourself one of the best records of the 90's, period.

I agree, classic tones from a classic band. No need to change that ever.
I'm really surprised there aren't any more PJ fans out here!

This calls for more recorded PJ covers to teach the forum a lesson on good music and tone lol.
