Gear you like to use but hate to hear

In response to the "love to hear/hate to use" thread, what about the opposite?

I love messing with Whammy pedals, but they sure get obnoxious really quickly when somebody else is using one.

Looper pedals are fun, but I don't care much for 'one man band' looper music. It's usually a bunch of mediocre ideas stacked on top of each other.

Synths and such. I like what they can do, but hate when they dominate the mix, forcing everyone else into specific narrow EQ notches.

Super-high gain amps and pedals; satisfying to interact with tons of fuzz, but fatiguing on the ears. I actually prefer the sound of stacked overdrives, even though it means more noise than using a single device with a ton of head room by design.

I agree, super fun but I can only get behind excellent usage. Mike Sullivan of the Russian Circles epitomizes using one well.

Ambient music is a gray zone for me, I love playing it but sometimes it's tough to listen to. Probably because it's easy to make, it's easy to do it poorly/boring.
