General question

A new to the forum member would like to install an Antiquity HB Neck in a telecaster. Please offer some
suggestions as to what traditional tele bridge pickup would be a good pairing. Thanks in advance for the advice! Guitar is a Squier CV 60’s tele.

Re: General question

Welcome to the forum!

This all depends on what kind of sound you want. Any vintage-ish-output Tele would work well- but only you have decide if you want more power or a different EQ than you have in your bridge pickup now. So what don't you like about the current pickup you have?

Re: General question

Mincer, thanks for the welcome and response. The stock pickups are not terrible. I can pull out out some decent tone from them. Just wanted to try something different and I love the sound of the Antiquity HB. So I should consider an Antiquity or Antiquity II tele bridge? Just trying to go for that roots rock, not high gain sound. Would the lil ‘59 be a good match? As far as no hum goes, I guess it would.

Re: General question

Too many good choices, but I would strat with the either the STL-1 Broadcaster or APTL-3JD Jerry Donahue. Either will pair excellent with the Antiquity.

Re: General question

The Jerry Donahue is hard to beat. I like it even more than the Antiquity in my Tele. (Bridge.)

Re: General question

I agree, two good recommendations there in the JD and the Broadcaster. And both still Tele at heart. The Lil'59 is more of a rock pickup IMO. Not quite as warm & fat as a full size humbucker but maybe halfway there, or a little more. A good sounding pickup; I like the Lil'59. I have one paired with a P90 at the neck and it rocks. That isn't a guitar I reach for when I want classic Tele bridge tone though.

Re: General question

The Seth might be a better choice for the neck.....if the purchase has not taken place yet.
It will be a bit more bitey, or open. And will most likely match the Tele pickup a bit more than the Ant, which is perhaps a bit more muffled due to the mag and the wind.

Re: General question

Upon further listening, I’m definitely leaning toward the Seth Lover and the JD. Thanks forum members for sharing your knowledge and expertise.

Re: General question

Well then, that about seals the deal, Mincer! Do you have any sound clips of this particular combination?

Re: General question

Someone here must have some sound clips..I don't currently own a Tele.

Re: General question

Yeah, they don't work for me ergonomically, although I love when others play them.

That should sound killer! I have my JD mated with a full-size 59, but the Seth should be awesome.
