What my Tele will (hopefully) look like not too long from now - another month or so.
Volume pot (500K), Stacked concentric (250K/500K) tone pot, three-way switch all on a reversed control plate. Zhang pickups: Babe the Blue Ox (PhatCat style) neck, Paul Bunyan bridge.

Eventually I'll get her refinished too, something like this (just the color sample, other than that she'll still look like the image above):

Cream - That is awesome, One Part VH, One part 50's strat, and a couple of Mr. Goodbar P-90's thrown in for goodness!

You need to warmoth-up that bad boy! I say Vintage/Custom Duncan P-90's!!!

Maybe try a maple neck....

Cream, you know that Lee from Sonic Youth playes guitsra JUSt like this right??

He takes Jazzmasters and drops in buckers from 70's Tele's and such...calls them Jazz-o-Blasters! A good buddy of mine and I built one about 4 or 5 years ago, my buddy wanted on so bad...just like Lee we ran it into several cool fuzz tones (big muff, axis fuzz, octavia close) and a Super Reverb...sounded great!

Man . . . I love that, but with one slight mod. I'd make that black burst maybe a 1/4" max, and then follow that up with the green being maybe another 1/2". Let more of the woodgrain shine through. That would be beautiful.

I did what I could with th tool at hand....

I agree though - the real top like that that I saw really let the grain through and it was awesome! The green was a tad deeper as well

I understand. I love the idea of a thin black burst followed up by a thin Hunter Green accent.
