George Lynch in the Desert

Have you guys seen the videos of George recording in the middle of a desert on Youtube? He's got these enormous stacks mic'd outside at the base of a hill. Way up behind the amps under a tin shed, George is sitting on a porch wailing away on his tiger stripe, and surprisingly, a tele. George is the man. [Look up George lynch recording desert]

A cranked amp outside is a fun thing. When I was 17, I saw that my high school had an electric outlet at the edge of a giant field, so I set up a fullstack there on a Sunday afternoon. I was wailing away, and by a bad stroke of luck, the Principal happened to be walking through the school that day and made me pack it up. What a jerk!

He lives out here in Phoenix and I've run into him over the years since the late 80's. I almost sold him one of my old blonde Bandmasters about 1993, but he wanted me to bring it to his house to audition it while there were two guys already there with cash in hand...Sorry, George.
