I unfortunately know absolutely nothing about wiring so as much as I'd like to do anything to it I'll leave it up to the professionals here lol.

I took this Seymour Duncan wiring

Then swapped the push pulls over to the volume pots and added out of phase, then made my own diagram based on that with pickup wires swapped the pickup colours for Dimarzio (substituting white for grey).

It's a bit messy but I can follow it. I needed to make sure I didn't screw up. Push pulls are easily fried !

The hash sign to the tone pots for the volume pots represents capacitors and I left my capacitor and resistor off the the out of phase in the diagram as I know what I am doing there.

I have to agree with the mag swap recommendation. That just isn't a long term keeper guitar. Every dollar into it is one more dollar away from a way better one. The mag swap is cheap and easy. No magical wiring skills needed.

Yeah I know that. If but it would be the same price all around if I decide to replace the pickups in the standard which I probably would do. And I honestly wouldn't be comfortable replacing the magnets you still have to work around wires which with my luck I would cut one of them lol.

IMHO,
Keep the VE. The 100 is basically the L.P. Special II
with a pick guard.
I've got an €pi that I swapped out the stock p'ups for a set of S.D. APH II's and it sounds awesome.

Yeah I know that. If but it would be the same price all around if I decide to replace the pickups in the standard which I probably would do. And I honestly wouldn't be comfortable replacing the magnets you still have to work around wires which with my luck I would cut one of them lol.

Magnet swapping is easy. Those open gave humbuckers, the hard part is done! No cover to remove from a block of wax!

Just loosen the strings, remove the pickups. Remove the tape. Slacken the 4 screws by 4 twists of the wrist each. Use a cocktail stick to gently push out the magnet half way. Bring the new magnet to it. Make sure it is repelled by the one still in place. Slide the old magnet out, slide the new one in. Tighten up put it all back. Good to go.

The difference is significant. I like alnico 2 best.... but it depends on the pickup.
Magnets are cheap get a bunch of them. Start with a2 and a5, if you want something
In between then A4, if you want more power then A8 and nothing stops you having a mix, A8 bridge and A4 neck is a nice combo .... as is A4 bridge A2 neck

Or, or, or...try this...get both guitars, and change the pickups in all of them! Best of all worlds! (BTW, learning about wiring is a worthwhile investment of time, and the people here will walk you through any problems you may have).

I'll try changing the magnets first. Four magnets two a2s and 2 a5s are 30 bucks total so might as well try that before 100+ on pickups

Omg that's expensive! In the U.K. There is guy who sells them for about £2 each. Try EBay. That's way too expensive for magnets.

I found 2 alnico a2 bar magnets and two a5s for 12.62 so a little over 3 each.

And that's how so many of us have so many guitars with very not so many original pickups and funky wiring! I have actually only moved one electric guitar on. I love them all !!!

And learning wiring is a whole heap of fun especially with HH or HSH guitars! [emoji1360][emoji4]

I have an old single coil beginner strat type guitar that I could experiment on as far as wiring I guess. I don't really use it but if I can get it to sound good and get this cover band with my friend going eventually I could use it some I guess lol.

You can often get pickups out of an Epiphone G-400 or Les Paul Standard, or even a PRS SE for around 20 bucks on Ebay. They would at least be useable pickups to tide you over while saving for a Standard. The Epi pickups sound better with the covers off and the caked on wax removed from the top of the bobbins.

Mag swap is the cheapest option. If it doesn't work out or you mess up a pickup, you can still get inexpensive pickups used, or something like GFS new for not nearly as much as a new set of Duncans or Bare Knuckles.
A2 neck with A5 bridge. Or reversed if the bridge is too scooped and the neck too fat.

Stop being a pussy. If you can replace a battery, you can replace a magnet! If you can't do that - you do not have the finger dexterity to even bother playing!!!!

Some of those "beginners" guitars are sleeper guitars. I have 2 cruiser by crafter guitars. They are marketed as cheap beginners guitars but the fit and fish is as good as Squier standard but the neck profile is nicer. Full depth solid body well cut nicely finished good hardware. Pickups are a let down- ceramic and super be like a Squier affinity.

One is routed HSS so I put fender tex mex pickups in it with the Dan Armstrong series / out of phase blend mod, plus a push pull on the volume knob to put the neck and bridge on at the same time.

The other one is routed HSH with hand wound boutique pickups- I use a chicken knob on a 3 way rotary switch that sets the behaviour of the 5 way selector (a superswitch) I can get fat strat, fat Tele/LP, Tele strat modes, combinations of pickup selections and coil splits.
