Get this book!

I finally got Dan Erlewine's Guitar Players Repair Guide. What a great book. Packed with info and pics. Most of the things that people on this board ask about every day are answered in detail (how to clean this and that, how to wire or set up a guitar, etc.). If you have these kinds of questions, get this book. Go to Amazon, it's cheaper than Stew Mac's site.

On a funny aside, when I lived in Athens, OH, I had approached Dan going to his car and asked him some simple question about setting up my guitar. He basically laughed in my face and drove off. Looking at his book, I see that things I thought were a mystery are not so mysterious. ****, if I met him now, I'd get his freaking autograph...

I think I'd have just kicked his butt. I have a lot of respect for the guy, but why would he laugh in your face. That seems a bit uncalled for.

+1, laughing in my face would set me over the edge. I would proceed to destroy him. Actually, now I don't want to buy his book for it... but I kind of need the information, so I will anyways. But I'll buy it with a really mean look on my face :laugh2:

Re: Get this book!

It was more of a snide comment than actually laughing in my face. I was trying to determine why, despite my best efforts, I couldn't get this one guitar set up properly, and was trying to figure out if it needed refretted. I thought he was going to spout out words of wisdom and encouragement, but he said, "do you know how to use a screw driver?", and then took off. I felt pretty much like a big dumb ass for the rest of the day.

I'll probably catch hell for the sheer level of sadism involved in this comment, but here it goes. I've always thought that if you really want to hurt a guitar player just break his fingers.

Hahahahahahaha sounds exactly like something my partner would say, joelappers.

Re: Get this book!

Oh, Dankerella - thanks for notifying us! I'll be looking around for it as guitar maintenance is a bitch for me. *thumbs up*

Re: Get this book!

I don't think there's anything better on the market. His next one, "How to Make Your Guitar Play & Sound Great" s good too.

Yes. Defintiely buy the book. Maybe Dan had hemorhoids that day :laugh2: which resulted in his being a major league WEINER to Dankerella.
