Get those Fender Strats while you can

Because Fender is for sale. Whether or not this will have any significant impact to customers remains to be seen. But with the exceptional quality Fender has been cranking out lately along with their innovative features, many have speculated that 2004 would go down in history as a sought-after model year for future Fender collectors. Consider this:

  • 2004 is the 50th anniversary of the Stratocaster
  • Fender offers 3 limited edition anniversary Strats
  • Many 2004 Fenders saw upgrades (scn pickups, S-1 switching, etc.)
  • All 2004 American Deluxe Strats feature 50th anniversary neckplate
  • The last year under their present ownership/management
It may not have any impact in the long run at all but consider what happened when CBS bought out Fender in the late 60's. They started cutting corners and producing a product that today many feel is inferior to pre-CBS and post-CBS instruments. Something to think about.

Darn...just when they were turning out the best guitars they've made in 30 or 40 years!

My thoughts exactly. Fender was definitely crunching out quality guitars, I hope this doesn't set the quality back.

Maybe they've hit their growth peak, and feel they need another investor to take the company further?

Re: Get those Fender Strats while you can

my standard AS strat I just got had a 50th neck plate ... cool touch! :)

I hope they learned something from history as far as turning the company over to a new owner - if it comes to that

Re: Get those Fender Strats while you can

Hmmm... It seems that initial report wasn't entirely accurate. Whatever. It's still a great year to buy a Strat! ;)

P.S. No, I'm not affiliated with Fender. Just a satisfied customer. :)

Re: Get those Fender Strats while you can

This thread is pointless. Even if Fender was for sale (they're not) why worry about stuff like quality of future guitars that haven't been produced yet? Is there a point to worrying about problems before they even exist?

Who's worrying? Just pointing out what I thought was a news item and commenting on the fact that Fender seemed to be having a good year.

Nah. I'm sure that won't happen. This threads not long enough for the whole story to get lost in the multiple posts...
