Im pulling the alnico V stock €piphone pickups outta the guitar.
Its a hollowbody Joe Pass.
Ive been thinking of going with alnico II's to get a jazzier sound.
How bout some recommendations for S.D. pickups for jazz.

Re: Gettin' Ready

Alnico 2 pros are great.
I have one in the neck of my 175.
59s are cool too....i had a pair in a joe pass a while back.
The jazz is really nice too. works great in a hollow body because it has a tight bottom end which reduces acoustic feedback.

The good news is that any good quality vintage output pickups you put into that joe pass will be a huge improvement over the epis. They will all sound great. It just comes down to what your favourite flavour of great sounds like. Dont forget to replace all the pots, jacks and switching too. Its worth the few extra bucks and improves the functionality a little. YOu can keep the old wiring harness and pickups complete if you ever decide to resell the guitar and just screw it all back in.

The even better news is that you only need a neck/Rhythm position pickup.

To gibson175's suggestions, I would add the SH-1n '59 with an AlNiCo 4 magnet swap.
