some other pickup :P.
I need a high output pickup for my EVH guitar seeing as its my main axe for my band (tuned in drop C) and I was thinking about the GFS crunchy rails mainly because I think its a copy of the bill lawrence dime used( I'm probably wrong). Buuuuut what other pickups would be good for metal, I don't like actives...ill get that out there now.

Thank you :D

Oh P.S im ueing a Vox vt50 on the uk modern channel I think..I have no idea what its a copy of :(

Re: GFS crunchy rails oooor....

You could spend a few bucks more and get the Bill Lawrence pickup. (They're $40-$50 on E-Bay.)

I just threw one into a Strat tuned in open B, it's quite brutal.

Re: GFS crunchy rails oooor....

DiMarzio D-Activator (it's not active!) or Full Shred

or why don't you just get a Bill Lawrence L500-XL?

Re: GFS crunchy rails oooor....

The L500s have what is essentially a reverse cover (everything but the blades covered). you can either get one the sits in a metal cup or a plastic cup.

Re: GFS crunchy rails oooor....

A lot of people will tell you that the B&B/Wilde one is better than the BL USA one. I look at it this way.. the BL USA one is made on the equipment that the original ones were made on, and are readily available in the $40 range. (There are a few distributors on E-Bay that have them ready to ship.) I've got the BL USA one in the slime green Strat I just did, and it sounds great. If you want the B&B/Wilde one, be prepared to wait a few weeks to get one.

Oh, and I use it through a Vox Tonelab, which is the pedal/headphone amp version of your amp. ;)

So basically go with the BL usa one?

Re: GFS crunchy rails oooor....

ill take that as a yes :P

Well, you could spend $20 more and wait a month or more to get one from Bill Lawrence himself, or just get the BL USA one from an E-Bay seller and have it within a week. Just depends on money/time. Me, I've honestly never tried the Bill Lawrence/Wilde one, but I've had two BL USAs and they've been great.

I think ill go with the ebay one seeing as I'm impatient, and I'll also need like 25 more dollars to get the BL usa one and like 40 more fore the wylde one :/
