GFS kwikplug

I got a kwikplug harness, a set of GFS strat pups with the kwikplug, and a pickguard from GFS yesterday. Installed it in about an hour and it works fine. Its pretty nifty in that regard. Right after installation it works.. unlike my own homemade wiring and soldering which as an amateur, works part of the time.. and I have to go back and check my soldering and problem solve this and problem solve that.. .or it is ground noisy. This one is not too noisey and the installation looks clean and easy. One thing though was because of the plug which looks like a mini-jack plug, the wire is thicker and I had to drill the wood route through to my output jack a bit wider.

As for the pups, I got the 60s-70s greybottom overwound. The sound pretty good, a bit dark, stratty, and has the quack at 2 and 4. I dig it. but will need to play it more to give you a better assessment. I have this is my fender powerhouse strat.

I don't mind connectors like that- I have a few pickguards wired to a 2 prong molex connector to switch out easily. But when you don't need to have a project done, work on your soldering. It will allow you further options down the road, and it is a great skill to have.

Good to know! Gonna order a set of their Gold Foil Single Coils in another week or so and figured I'd give the Kwik-Plugs a try.

If your shopping GFS,their steel tremolo blocks are the best thing you can do for a Squiers tone. Night and day, even with the crappy stock pickups!

As for these 60's 70's greybottom overwound set I like em! As I mentioned earlier they're kinda dark sounding almost like I'm using thicker strings. They are clear when clean and can handle (virtual sim) high gain. Ran them on my ac15 and they feel alive and musical. #sold
