GFS/SLICK Guitars, Anyone tried them???

Hi, I was looking around GFS's site the other day & I came across this single humbucker Strat copy. It's a Slick guitar not Xavier or whatever their brand of guitar is??? I guess there's not a lot of difference because it's all GFS parts just designed by Earl Slick? Anyway, I have a very, very cool humbucker & I've been thinking about building a guitar with a single bucker route around it so I don't have to sacrifice one of my Stratocasters or other guitars because I have them all set up the way I like now & don't want to mess with perfect!!! This thing is almost exactly what I had in mind for a build, aside from the bridge, & it's only $220??? When I say exactly I mean the wood, ASH, solid bridge, it's a wraparound, I wanted a hardtail but pretty close, & It has a relic look to it done with thin auto paint & then rubbed off in all the right places? I was going to use nitro but the same idea? So I can have this thing for the same amount of money as I'd spend on a blank, but is it worth it??? If anyone has tried these things & has some feedback please chime in! I'm not looking for a miracle, I just want to know if it's on par with a MIM Strat or another import as far as platability? Thanks a bunch!!!!!

PG ran a review of their Tele copy. Reading between the lines of the typical print-magazine rose colored guitar review glasses...it's exactly what you'd expect: cheap, playable and nothing special.

Fwiw, I like the look of their fake LP Jrs.

I've been told Xavier's are alright after a good setup & a little T.L.C., I wasn't sure if it was the same with the Slick s#!t???

Re: GFS/SLICK Guitars, Anyone tried them???

I have a set of GFS pickups in my Epi LP, and they're great. I'd bet the guitar is probably nicer than the same money would get from a retailer.

I'd rather take my wife out to a nice dinner & order a nice bottle of wine.

It'll taste good, I'll probably get laid afterwards, and I won't feel the regret of getting screwed over for my money. ;)

LOL, you guy's crack me up! You haven't met my wife! Even if I get laid @ the end of the night I still feel like I got screwed over for my money!!! J.K., It seems to be I've heard more bad than good so I think I'm just going to get a new single H.B., single pot guard & toss it on my old beat up 90's MIM Strat? It's act. a great guitar, I bought it new when I was 14 I think? So it's been around the block but in a good way, it's loaded with a set of Lace Sensor's right now & sounds awesome but a guard swap is easy enough & the lace pup's are more of a specific kind of sound??? I'd say I could swap them out every once in a while when I change my strings but I hate new strings so it could be over a year before that happens!!! Perhaps installing a 250K Liberator pot in the lace guard & a 500K Liberator pot in my H.B. guard is the way to go? I could swap them out in less than 5 minutes???

I have seen some up at GC used
The only thing I don't like about GFS guitars are the pieces aren't standard sized

No wait that's Rondo SX
Nevermind
