GFS "top mount" pickup, on TOP of archtop lid-

I've been thinking about this idea-

GFS makes a pickup called a "top mount", that's flat underneath, not very tall (3/8" ?)- for "dearmond" guitars-
and would fit on top of my Wildkat's top- between the original P90's- and still under the strings.

I don't like the thought about drilling more holes in my guitar;
but it might be a way of installing a third pickup, without a full pickup route in the top.

(don't worry, I won't do any major surgery or anything)

Just wanted to share this idea.

The guitar's top is arched- but the pickup's flat underneath...

Either i'd need a luthier to make me some "wooden mounts", or I'll put simple ceramic sculpture clay in between, and glue it on.

Trying to get the "2 # 4" inbetween strat sounds, with a third pickup in the middle.
(and also running the bridge pickup in series with the middle one. Had great suscess with this in a Fender Strat).

Should this be in the "Guitar Shop", or "Pickup" forum? :/

sorry, please move it if so.

Re: GFS "top mount" pickup, on TOP of archtop lid-

those "top mount" pickups come with two mount bars
the bars mount to the sides of the bottom of the fretboard
the pickup is then suspended above the body at the base of the fretboard

^^ not the ones I'm thinking about-

they got 4 screw holes- one in each corner.

But maybe one of the one you mention, would work aswell. :)

(not wanting to ruin my guitar).

oh I see now
you want this

yeah I cant see how you can mount that without janking up the front of the guitar

double sided tape?

it has mounting screws
but you will have to drill a hole to get the cable into the control cavity

or run it under one of the other pickup surrounds

I dont know what you have in mind
but it dont sound good

Ok. I'm sorry- but i do have a different belief about this.

Would do it in a second- if I didn't have to drill a hole for the pickup cable. maybe i could smuggle it trough the sound hole? :o

And a series/ parallell switch together with the bridge pickup...

Well.. I'll wait and see.
