Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

Re: Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

I just don't see what the logic is here, where someone would actively search out to buy one of those rather than a standard or a traditional. I just don't get the angle they are taking.

Being a pothead is expensive. They're no stranger to spending huge amounts of money for a little personal satisfaction and an icon of the "lifestyle".

Re: Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

http://www.musicradar.com/news/guitars/gibson-reveals-2014-guitar-line-up-589317: this is the most complete information I can get on the new models.

Gibson seem to have done alot of new things this year. 6 new pickups apparently, including the new '61 classic humbuckers, which are replacing the mismatched 490R/498T combo in the LPJs, not to mention that the LPJs won't look silly anymore with the new zebra pickups instead of those black plastic covers. Lets hope these new pickups are good.

They've also started to use graphptech nuts and non-slip knobs and the new Les Paul classic seems to be a production version of the Les Paul Traditional II.

The announcement on their website though, one-piece fingerboards really got me, are they trying to say that they didn't use one piece fingerboards before?

Honestly I don't really get the point of the Les Paul Peace model, the whole peace thing is so gimmicky.

I think the worst part of the new 2014 lineup is that they still won't bring back the Flying V and Explorer, real bummer, I never really understood why they discontinued them.

I hadn't heard about them discontinuing the Explorer. Bummer, except for the tuners and stock pups, I love mine.

Because some people are such hardcore hippy peace freaks that they will spend money on something like this. Granted, there's nothing wrong with peace, I enjoy it very much, but I just don't see the need to plaster it all over things I own.

Re: Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

I'd hit it except for the knobs. I can sell the case and the robot tuners.

I saw the NAMM shaowing of the Peace guitar, and the Gibson guy said that the three-way switch was tie dye. Was he smoking part of the case that day, or was there something "HIPPY" about the toggle switch?

Yes. The toggle switch cover is kind of a swirl of creme, orange and a reddish color. They are VERY hard to find because they tend to tear and break off.

Re: Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

As much **** that people give gibson for them, I really like the idea of the robot tuners - namely, because I use a lot of alternative tunings, and it's annoying to retune on stage

Re: Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

Hemp case with robot tuners?

The only thing more wrong than the concept itself, is the idiot faux naturalist hippy poser that buys it.

If someone pitched this to me as an exec at Gibson….

Re: Gibson 2014 Les Paul Peace Electric Guitar

I just ordered two

Are they on clearance sale somewhere? I don't think the Les Paul Peace is in production anymore.

The history of this thread is interesting. Started in 2013. Resurrected in July 2015. Resurrected again in May 2016.

I was joking, I think they were a limited run
