Gibson 2015 Les Paul Traditional

I dropped by Guitar Center last night to see what's going on.

I tried a Fender Strat that had a mahogany neck which was pretty cool. After that I looked around and saw the 2015 Les Paul Traditional way up top so I asked to check it out.

It was this one.

I plugged it into an Orange head and 2x12, not sure which one but it had nice gain to it and a great clean channel. I've heard a lot people *****ing about Gibson and the 29%, the stupid tuner and all of that. Well, after playing it for about an hour I'm ready to buy this damn thing. What a killer guitar. Great feel and awesome tone and the tuner on the headstock actually works.

Have any of you checked one of these out?

Man, that is a gorgeous guitar! I love Les Pauls. There are a lot of Gibson bashers but you know what, haters gonna hate.

I have not tried a 2015. Where I live in Greece it is a smaller college town where the stores do not stock a lot of nicer equipment when compared to a big city like Athens. Personally, I would really like to try one of the 2014 studio models to see what the color looks like in person as well as see if I like the slimmer 60's neck http://www.thomann.de/gr/gibson_les_paul_studio_pro_2014_tb.htm. I'm used to the fat 50's profile and really like it.

Anyway, if the guitar speaks to you and you can afford it, I would have to say you should buy it. Gibson guitars are fantastic instruments, especially when you find a really good one. I used to own a 2004 limited edition Les Paul and I have regretted selling it since the day I sold it. I wouldn't mind owning the right one again someday.

What did you think about the G-force tuning system anyway?

Even if they were priced as previous years, the neck width is a deal breaker for me. Really irritates my CTS.

In Athens I could not even find a decent 7-string at all, only some Dean (a really garbage guitar, about 600 EUR in Nakas) and a Schecter hell raiser (still a bad guitar). The studios I tried sounded and felt cheaper than the average high-end chinese single cuts. Unfortunately this is the mere reality.

That's no good. I have not visited any music shops in Athens yet. Here in Patras the selection is pretty slim, especially on Gibsons.

Looks good. If you played it in person and you liked it consider buying it. Possibly after dragging your current #1 into the shop for comparing.

Only thing I need to throw in is that when Gibson says "unchambered" that still means that it is swiss-cheesed.

It's definitely a great guitar. The neck is not baseball bat thick, it was perfect.

As for the tuner. I only used to for standard tuning and didn't mess with it much but it works and it's quick.

I did try a Schecter Hellraiser C1 and it was horrible. I have a Damien Elite 8 which is great. Sorry you guys can't find decent guitars over there.

It was pretty heavy for something swiss cheesed and the tone was beefy so it doesn't seem to be a big deal to me.

My #1 is a Music Man JP6 2007 LE. It's day and night but to me, both are awesome for what they are. Just thought I'd share because I've seen tons of people crapping all over these guitars.

13, 14, and 15 Traditionals are solid. No chambers, no relief holes.

Yeah, I looked that up too. Those LPs are solid body.

One other thing I forgot to mention.

If I get this guitar at GC today, or at least put 20% down, I get $500 store credit.

I own the Gibson Les Paul Peter Frampton signature guitar and love everything about it. From neck to pups, as good as I've felt/played/heard from any other guitar. If I was to buy one more Les Paul not sure which one it would be - 2015 models the way to go?

That's good to know, in fact very good. Would you happen to have a reference link with more information?

Also, why doesn't Gibson say "not weight relieved" in that case, like they do for the historics?

I was just about to post a link to the specs. I had to try it for myself after all of the bad-mouthing and it delivered and I usually don't like Les Pauls. The only one I liked up until now was the 60s reissue Classic.

Allright, so they *do* say "no weight relief", not just "not chambered" as the sweetwater link says.

Yeah the Traditional is solid, the Traditional Pros are the ones that are swiss cheesed.
if they have the Trad Pro II check one out, 14 was the last year of production they have that great Paul tone and looks, but are under $2000, and I was able to talk them down a couple hundred on mine.
